    Shepard was detained just like Gordon, so he wasn't around during the Combine war.

    He wasn't consider official canon, but Doug and Gabe said that he might make an appearance in the future.

    Its one of the best FPS sagas of all time.

    It would be neat if Gordan found himself trapped in a situation he was likely going to lose, the screen cutsaway to a rambling G-mail, with the cam positioned in front of the G-Man, as normal.

    The G-Man begins talking mumbo jumbo that doesn't seem to make sense. He then saying something to the effect of "I think it's time we put you back to good use." The cam angle then shifts to an unidentified stasis capsule, were we see an asleep or catatonic Shepard.

    Then that's a missed opportunity.

    Second, Shepard's events should be considered canonical--some of his experiences are shared with Gordan's.
