I want to start an FAQ thread for GPU and GPU related questions

Here are some that i can think of:

What are the parts of a gpu and what do they do?

    What are FPS?

Does more memory mean higher performance?

Why does the level of detail affect performance?

If anyone else has a good idea feel free to post it, and of course feel free to answer these FAQs, to the best of your ability.

There's an awful lots of people on this forum and elsewhere in the world who don't know what to look out for in a laptop. There are way more "3GB 540m vs 1.5GB 560m" threads than there should be.

If we could rename this to something like "what to look for in a GPU" or something along the lines and then make it a sticky, I think that would help a lot of people and also save us the work of repeatedly telling people not to be fooled by VRAM size.

Yeah, really. Based on the questions and how I am guessing the OP is going to answer them (simple, obvious, not really explaining how or why answers), I don't have high hopes for this.
