Now that it has had time to circulate can any 9650 DDR3 card owners enlighten me as to what 3Dmark06 score it achieves. I am most interested in the speed at stock clocks but any info on how well it overclocks is a bonus.

The 9700M GT seems to score around 5700-6000 on stock clocks and it is this card I want to be able to realistically outperform if I buy the 9650M GT.

    Thanks

You can check out this site, the card you are looking for is on line 41. The benchmarks there should be taken with a grain of salt, as many different systems are used. Still, the results posted by other users would have the same problem.

I looked at notebookcheck already and it seems that they only benchmarked the DDR2 version of the card. A score of 4900 proves this as a DDR3 9600M GT will score 5000-5200.
I guess almost noone has the DDR3 version. Zepto however mention roughly 20% increase in performance over DDR3 9600M GT which means hypothetical 6000-6200. Just wish there was more concrete knowledge of this cards performance.

The 9650M GT GDDR3 won't outperform the 9700M GT GDDR3 since it has lower clocks across the board. Though the difference is slight, so there shouldn't be much difference overall.

The 9650 is an 8700m GT rebranded right? So stock clocks will be lower... but OC'd my 8700m GT had similar clocks and scores.

reminder... 3dmark06 scores are heavily biased on the processor... so unless the processor is similar, you cannot compare cards based on score.

200MHz is a 200-250MHz score difference in the C2D series.

The 9650 is a 55nm 9600, with slightly higher clocks. If the 9700 gets 6k, the 9650 would get maybe 5500.

    An OC'd 8700m GT gets 5500-ish at 1280x1024 with a 1.8GHz C2D.
With a 2.2GHz-2.4GHz you can count on the 8700m GT getting over 6k at 1280x1024.

Pretty sure the 9650m is the same as th 8700m GT.

Note the 9700 is better as it will run cooler and likely overclock even furthur.

im pretty sure a 9700 does more than 6k. My 3850 is the 9700 equivelent and I get over 7k.

    3850 >> 9700M GT, easily.

If you want to outperform the 9700M GT, do it with a 256-bit card.

Depends, the 9650M GS is a rebranded 8700M GT, as the 9500M GS is a 8600M GT. I didn't know the 9650M GT actually got released though.

Yeah it got released and is sold by zepto. The GT version is 55nm and the ddr3 one carries 512mb, clocks 550/1325/800. Gonna buy one next week now as I find my 8600M GT is starting to die. Not sure what prices are in canada but they are selling the 9600M GT ddr3 for 160 pounds including tax and shipping and then 9650 for 215 pounds.
