Hi, i have a 7800 go with the dell drivers, and i read taht other drivers are much better. can anyone give me a suggestion on a legit driver that is better for gaming?
-
go to laptopvideo2go.com and download the latest drivers with the modded INF file....that should work
-
can i change back? will i still be able to over clock with coolbits?
-
yep
i have em...and i love em!
-
it said that it couldn't find any drivers that were compatable with my system!
-
i know.......you need the moded INF file for the drivers to work
-
i'm sorry, i have no idea what your talking about. Could you explain this to me?
-
ok.........the INF file is a modded file that makes the driver compatiable with notebook video cards.
go here http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/index.php?drivers
you should see a link with the words INF. download that file and save it to the directory where you extracted the newly downloaded drivers. when asked to replace files....click yes.... then run the setup to installl drivers
that should do it -
when i click on the inf link it just shows a bunch of text, not a download. and when i extracted the drivers i can't find a file called INF.

You can also find the Extreme-G Drivers at www.tweaksrus.com Go to the downloads section and click on Extreme G and then the Mobile Editions. I am using 84.56 v 2.40 but there are many flavors out there. You can pick and choose what you like and what works for you.

I used Xtreme-G with my past 6800 Go and it worked awesome, they softmodded it just enough to get some extra push out of it, but still kept the temperatures low.
-
thnx, i got it working. at stock it went from a 3790 to a 3850, and overclocked it went from a 5400 to a 5540, is this a good improvement, or should i look at extream g?
-
Hey, I've got a noob question. I just ordered an insirion 6400... it still isn't here yet, but my question is, is it safe to download these drivers on any computer and how much of an improvement would they be over the stock ones that come with the computer?
-
Yes they are safe, but I think the 6400 has the ati x1400 in it, so you will need ATI drivers and not Nvidia ones. I think the Omega drivers are the best ones for ATI (I am not an ATI guy so someone can jump in here if I'm wrong). They do offer a pretty good boost in performance and image quality and still are completely safe for your notebook, as long as you don't go overboard on overclocking and fry your card.
-
Just adding new drivers jumped your score by 2000 points? That is a good jump. I think the 5550 score is about what I remember from back when I had my e1705 with the 7800 in it.
I would at least try one of the extreme g drivers. If you don't like it, you can always go back.

SaferSephiroth The calamity from within
The thread starter is not having any heat problems with stock drivers? What about OC'd?
-
No! adding the drivers boosted my score about 50-100 points! The first numbers are the stock speed differences (dell underclocked) and the second scores are the over clock speed differences. lol
-
That depends on what you mean by heat problems. Yes it gets hot, even on the stock drivers/clock speeds. Yes it gets VERY hot with the new drivers/overclocked 372/899. i attached a second screen so i could watch the temps on my games. with fear the temp went up to 84 C and pretty much stayed there give or take a degree every once in a while. It has never shut off becuase of overheating. those numbers are about the same with the stock drivers with overclocking. i'm going to try those other drivers now, to see if i can get alittle more performance.
What drivers can i change to, and what kind of performance difference will there be?
