Newegg often sells refurb/open box gpu's at an extreme discount (a while back they had a gtx 580 for $240). I am going to buy a gpu by Feb 20th when pe4l 2.1 comes out, and so I have a month to hunt for a huge discount. So apart from newegg, which other stores carry refurb/open box gpu's at a tremendous discount?

i dont think you'll need a gtx 580 if you're going to connect it via expresscard.

Which is why I'm not going to get a gtx 580. I just used that example to illustrate my point.

Outside of Newegg, the only other place I can think of as a slight possibility is Tiger Direct.

I give a strong second to eBay. There is a great selection of GPUs there at massive discount. They are often used / refurbished / oem. but there are also occasional epic deals on new parts as well

Other forums ([H]ardOCP, nVNews, etc) with a for sale section are a great place to find GPUs on the cheap. Prices there are often better than you'll find on eBay plus sellers often give room to negotiate. The only major downside is that you would likely be buying a product that's sold as is (eg no warranty). As long as you buy from someone who has good feedback, you should be fine.
