Alright just ordered a Dell E1505 for $828 Shipped... here is the specs..

    Duo Core T2400 1.6ghz w/2mb cache
512mb DDR2 533mhz (of course) going to upgrade to 1gb of 667mhz ram
    ATI x1300 (128mb shared)
    80gb 5400rpm HD
    15.4 XGA w/truelife

I know the setup is pretty weak for a gaming computer... but my desktop PC I built is my Gaming PC...(when I have time)

Anyways I purchased this Laptop for college, but it would be nice to have some decent games running on it... I used to have a Alienware PC back in 1999 with a Geforce2 32mb card and that computer could run some pretty decent graphics..(Command and Conquer Generals) with a PIII 866mhz ..

just wondering what your predictions will be on what games I will be able to run at 30fps....with detail turned down of course...

I have to wait a good week or so to see my Laptop on my doorstep!

    little feedback please!!!

you'll be able to run pretty much anything with that notebook. I have a GeForce 2 in my notebook and I could run Half Life 2 in minimal detail settings.

The only games you might not be able to play properly are very high end ones like FEAR or Doom 3, although it should be sufficient if you run them at minimal detail settings.

Don't worry about games not working properly on your laptop..your laptop is more than enough. Also, have a look at ChazMan's Graphics Card Comparasion Chart in this section of the forum.

Everything out right now will run. The newest stuff will run at low settings, newish stuff will run around medium, and older than that will run in the highish zone.

    *sigh*

Why does everyone worship the e1505?

Take a [edited by moderator] look at some with the X1600 for around $1000, that will be 50% better than the X1400........

If you're speaking in benchmark, they'll be around 200% better...

the G72 cards are Nvidia's equivalents of ATI's X1000 series cards.

You really shouldve researched this before you bought it, I was gonna get an e1505 but the S96J is a way better deal and a way better performer.

no one "worships" the X1400. My laptop was $729 before shipping/tax, that sure does beat 1000+ for a laptop with an X1600. Not everyone buys a laptop to play games.

I think because some of the average buyers and people who will play light games can get the best bang for there buck at dell.

the 1505 is a hell of a machine for the price, hence its popularity, its not the best out there, but it is one of the best bang for the buck unit on the market, 1.6 core duo, 1 gig ram, 60 gig 7200rpm hd, 8xdvd burner, 15.4 wsxga+, x1300 video, intel pro wireless + bluetooth,9 cell battery and audigy upgrade for 819 shipped, I quite happy with it, its not a gaming system, thats what my desktop is for

THANK YOU!! for saying that before I had to...

...as badly as I want to sit in college classes and play games.......

ALL I AM ASKING IS WHAT GAMES WILL PLAY WELL WITH WHAT I PURCHASED!!

I got my comptuer for $770.... I don't thinkg a "gaming" PC that Im not going to play games on is worth an extra $300!!!

most things will run, though newer titles at lower settings, try running demos of the games you want to play before actually buying them, I have a similar system, and I can run fear fairly smooth at low res, medium/low settings, to me its not worth playing on this machine, it rules on my desktop though

No need to yell - several people have already chimed in. The X1300 meets the requirements for every game out there right now, but don't expect to play the newest games on anything but lower settings. FEAR will not run well, but it will run. Here's a link to download the demo:

    my desktop is a built from scratch job, msi k8n neo4 platinum mobo, amd64 x2 3800+ oc'd to 2500mhz, 2 gig pc 3200 dual channel, and a 7900 gt oc'd to 590 core and 1600 mem

gamershell.com is a good place to find demos the prey demo is kind of fun, at least the beginning is, bashing in the skulls of drunken rednecks with a wrench while listending to judas priest and clutch always brightens my day, though after that its the run of the mill alien crap
