I'm going to buy a gaming laptop and am wondering what card I should get? Is there a big difference between 880,870,860? Or even a 780 vs 880? Oh and how much of a difference does gb mean? Like. Gtx 880 4gb vs the 880 with 8gb?

The number of GBs doesn't make much difference for laptop resolutions. Even 1080p doesn't need benefit from 4 GB of memory...bigger numbers are mostly a marketing gimmick.

It depends on your budget but there is a fair difference between each of the same generation, I suggest you read up on each of the models you talk about as there are benchmarks and descriptions of each on the web.
