I am trying to invest in a new laptop in the coming weeks..
i am curious as to what everybody else thinks, it is a desktop replacement

Anyway, that is not relevant to this board area
so here is my graphics card and software questions![]()
Can you put the following cards in order of quality for gaming![]()
1)Nvidia GTX260 1GB DDR3 Graphics
2)Dual 512MB ATI® Mobility Radeon HD 3870
3)NVIDIA Quadro 2500M 512MB ( If it is a little dated, it is because i love the sound of the 20" Rock SL PRO found Herehttp://www.rockdirect.com/viewNotebook.php?pName=XTREME SL PRO)

If you google: 'mobile gpu benchmark' you will find:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html
which is an extensive list of GPUs and their benchmark scores. It's a good indication.
This list can also help: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=302231 -
Thank you, that is one extensive list by the way
Also i have realised this should be called "Which is better?", although this is kind of irrelevant now, because it is finished with and will probably be discarded -
Just something i have noticed, it has an option to show the FPS of games, the 2500M doesn't have any numbers here, does that mean that it can't run it, or that it hasn't been tried?

nVidia Quadro cards are for 3D and business work, they're not recommended for gaming. I'm sure the card can run most games, but that's not it's intent, and people generally don't buy them for that purpose. You'll get better driver support targeted towards games by getting a GeForce or Radeon series graphics card.

Here is the listing:
» GeForce GTX 280M SLI
» Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2
» GeForce 9800M GTX SLI
» GeForce GTX 280M
» GeForce 9800M GT SLI
» GeForce 9800M GTS SLI
» Mobility Radeon HD 3870 X2
» GeForce 8800M GTX SLI
» Mobility Radeon HD 3850 X2
» Quadro FX 3700M
» Mobility Radeon HD 4870
» GeForce GTX 260M
» GeForce 9800M GTX
» Mobility Radeon HD 4860
» Mobility Radeon HD 4850 -
Somehow I doubt that the mobile 9800GTX+ (280m) is more powerful than the crossfireX and sli setups listed. Also which 4870 is that? the GDDR3 version? is the GDDR5 version even out yet? I'd expect that to slaughter all of the other cards there.. -
» GeForce 9800M GTS SLI
» Mobility Radeon HD 3870 X2
» GeForce 9800M GT SLI
» GeForce 8800M GTX SLI
Or should the 3870 be stronger?
The 4870 should be the GDDR3 version I suppose. -
the 9800M GT and 8800M GTX are the same.
the 9800M GTS (64 shaders) is slower than the GT (96 shaders) -
The GT has 32 more shaders than the GTS. Though the GTS has higher stock clocks.
Overall the GT beats it by a little bit.
EDIT: Looks like we posted at the same time Gophn -

Well thanks for all your help guys, although i actually did finish looking up the task by myself
the order goes as follows with ranks.. most of you have got it but this should stop any queries
1)Dual 512MB ATI® Mobility Radeon™ HD 3870 - Rank 7(Overall)
Nvidia GTX260 1GB DDR3 Graphics - Rank 12(Overall)
3)NVIDIA Quadro 2500M 512MB - Rank 36(Overall)
So you can see that the Quadro being dated does effect it quite heavily
What is better
