I read some posts on Notebook Review that say business cards are better for 2D pictures that are found in business programs. Why do I need a video card for 2D pictures? What advantage does the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 300M have over the NVIDIA Geforce go 7600?

Erm 2D pictures should work well on a business or consumer graphics cards. Graphics cards today are all equally capable of rendering 2d pictures. Now business cards are usually more fitted at rendering business applications, such as AUTOCAD and whatnot, while consumer graphics cards are geared for gaming. You will see a decrease in gaming performance on a business graphics versus consumer.. so if you game, get 7600, like cad and stuff like that, get nvs 300m

They are usually certified to work on certain industrial applications, and are basically guaranteed that updates and whatnot will never break that support for the lifetime of the notebook.

The Quadro and FireGL cards are superior in rendering applications like CAD and 3DSMax.
The differences in 2d rendering capability will likely be insignificant for what you will be doing with your laptop. (I would kill someone if I had to use 3DSMax on a 15" screen) -
They're not made for gaming, but as another above said, for CAD type programs.

Does it work well with 3D imaging? For example: if I want to see a structure in 3D and rotate it, dissect it or peel away layers?

Viewing usually doesn't call for nearly as much of a demand on the GPU as actually rendering the files.
What is the advantage of a Business Video Card other than the increase in price?
