I am in the mood of playing a fighters game , i tried H.A.W.X at my friends pc i didnt feel it good , there is no fuel tanks lol , what is the best fighters game that i can find out there so i can get it?? ,
thanks in advance

For a current title probably IL-2.
-
If you want realism, then get IL-2 for WWII or Falcon 4 Allied Force for modern air combat (F-16) if you really want a challenge. Also Lock-On Modern Air Combat is fun too. Keep in mind all of these are still several years old. Nothing new of substance has come out in a while.
IL-2 is fun though. You can configure the settings from easy to realistic. -
Afterburner 2

Falcon 4.0 allied force or IL2
-
If you care to check out WWI sims, try Rise of Flight: The First Great Air War.

Then you can go with Blazing Angels.

i think Heroes Over Europe is supposed to come out late this month if it hasn;t already, be sure to check that out if you liked Heroes of the Pacific
-
If you want full realism the best game would be Falcon 4.0 Allied force.
I have not played that F22 game but i will second what htwingnut said and go with Lock On -
What's wrong with H.A.W.X?
It's actually a pretty decent game.
But if you want a really good game you should try out Falcon 4 as stated many times in this thread. -
The IL2 replacement is due out end of october

F-15 Strike Eagle III by Microprose, for MS DOS 6.0
Nah, seriously, though, you might strike gold with some older games. The 90s and earlier 2000s had some of the best flight sims ever. Jane's made some good ones in particular...hell, I still play USNF '97 from time to time. Jet Fighter IV was another good one. -
this is the F22 i am talking about http://www.gamespot.com/pc/sim/f22lightning3/index.html
but this will not work on vista, so i think ill go with the falcon , but what is the best version of the IL2 i found alot of versions available? -
i loved the old F22 raptor game by novalogic. its waaaaay old now but i still play it lolz.
-
Comanche Gold and F-22 Lightning 3 is pretty fun.
-
IL-2 Sturmovik:Forgotten Battles + Ace Expansion Pack + IL-2 Sturmovik:1946 + Pacific Fighters = A lot of planes!
-
IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 is a compilation of all of these. So only need to by 1946. 229 total flyable aircraft and over 300 in total (with AI planes).
http://il2-sturmovik.de.ubi.com/en/home.php:
" STURMOVIK™: 1946 also includes all of previous Il-2 series content in a single simple installation."
Simply the best WWII simulation and compilation of planes ever. It is a bit aged, but still great. Not to mention that the flight models are pretty darn good considering all the aircraft. -
ok , i ll got for th il-2 as alot of you stated its the best , thanks guys for ur help
-
Yes, IL2:FB is indeed old. I originally got it at the same time as CFS3 and man did it blow CFS3 out of the water.
CFS3 was IMO, an extreme let-down having played both CFS and CFS2... -
I long for the days when great combat flight simulations came out the likes of Jane's. I guess I should feel fortunate enough that I was the perfect age when those came out. Just out of college with a decent paying job and no other responsibilities really (i.e. in my early 20's). So I played all of them to death.
It's too bad there's not much else out there or even on the horizon. Black Shark and the new IL-2 game are about it. -

F22 was a fun game. I also enjoyed it a lot.
-
I always felt like the baton went from Microprose (F-15 Strike Eagle and F-19 Stealth Fighter) to Spectrum Holobyte (Falcon series) to EA/Jane's (USNF, F-15, F-18) to DID (EF2000, F-22 ADF, F-22 TAW) to Eagle Dynamics (SU-27 Flanker, Lock On) for serious modern jet fighter simulations...
And on the other major simulation front (WW2) was Dynamix (Aces Over the Pacific, Aces Over Europe) to Microprose (1942: Pacific Air War, 1943: European Air War) to 1C (IL-2 Sturmovik series)...I guess you could fit Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator series in there somewhere...never played them...
And then there were the arcaders...Novalogic's stuff (voxel technology was incredible before 3dfx did their 3D thing) and I include the Jetfighter series here (some would argue with me on that) up to HAWx and others (not for the PC, but I love, I mean LOVE, the Ace Combat series for the PS2 and Ace Combat 6 was probably the main reason I bought a 360)...
Of all the PC arcade-ish flight simulators, I like Crimson Skies the best...unfortunately, I can't get it to run in Direct3D on modern hardware with up-to-date drivers...nVidia broke compatibility with some of the D3D functions used in Crimson Skies since the 90-series drivers...
But the recommendation is too late...I see you've gone with IL-2...you'll enjoy it, if you like WW2 sims... -

And, as for IL2, the version you want is IL2 1946. It includes ALL of the prior editions, and is one of the absolute best sims out there. Available from Steam or GOG.com
Have fun! -
Any other new ones out now?

If you can track a copy down, LoMac (Lock On: Modern Air Combat) is your best bet for the type of simulator you want. The Digital Combat Simulator series will make for good fighter simulation (it's made by the same people as LoMac), once fighter aircraft modules are finally releases. Currently, the only one is for the Russian Ka-50 attack helicopter, with an A-10 attack plane module soon to arrive. No one these days seems to want to make real fighter sims any more, probably because of such a niche market, especially when games these days cost so much to make in order to make them graphically decent looking. Only the heavy hitters really exist anymore.

I concur on LOMAC. Great lite sim.
Wings of Prey was recently released. It's a WWII game/sim along the lines of IL-2. Supposed to be pretty good. I'm waiting for the price to drop to about $30 though. -
Wings of Prey came out about a month ago, and is a WWII sim with great graphics and options that should satisfy *most* players between arcade all the way to similation. So far has gotten regular updates as well to add features. I snagged a copy on Steam first of January, but it's also available directly from the developer.

HawX is pretty good. Although it requires some decent hardware.
-
i have tried falcon 4.0 once and it is quite realistic, dunno about LockOn what like is it so you could try that first
-
Lock On is about to release Flaming Cliffs 2.0 using the DCS:Black Shark engine. I'm definitely going to get it; keep in mind you need the original and (i believe) Flaming Cliffs to play it. The former can be found on ebay for $5-10 if I remember correctly, the latter is somewhere around $30 from the Lock On.uk web site. FC 2.0 is an additional $15 I believe.
-
IL-2 looks real good. Can this game be played in multiplayer on the PC?
-
-
-
yeah, IL2 is great.... But so was Jane's WWII Fighters, I actually still play that on my netbook! Awesome fun game.
-
I still play Falcon 4 when time permits. Problem with that sim is that if you let it go without playing for a few months you forget everything. There was a time when I would spend 20-30 hours/week when I had my projector just playing Falcon 4. Oh those were the days. Best damn sim ever.
I have DCS Black Shark just haven't had the time to play it though. -
Any fun ones that are available for free download?
What is the best flying fighters game ?
