I'm getting a notebook in a few weeks and I realy need something that has a good graphic card and at the same time will not be too expensive. I looked at the Dell E1705 and E1505 but they unfortunatly only had X1400... Are there any notebooks which cost around $1300 and have a graphic card which is better than the X1400?

    Thanks!

Yep, the MSI 1039 is the cheapest with an X1600 in it...

Only one that you can get with a X1600 right now for under $1300.

Thanks for changing the title ChazMan421.

The MSI is nice but when they say non "glare type lcd" does this mean the screen isn't glossy? :(

The standard WXGA is glossy; you can upgrade to the WSXGA+, that's non-glossy (matte).

we'll be lucky if the 1039 is actually ever released at this point. i wouldn't plan on getting it, you'll just be disappointed

I like the glossy screens but I don't want one which has a bad resolution... Is there a big difference between WXGA and WSXGA+? I realy want the screen to look nice and sharp since I'll be doing alot of Photshop and photo viewing.

Oh, and is it hard to put the RAM and the Hard Drive in a notebook? I'd like to add these two components myself since I found notebook hard drives and ram for alot cheaper on newegg. Finaly, is the AMD64 MT30 (1.6) Turion 25W 1mb a "bad" processor (I'd prefer a dual-core)?

So this notebook hasn't been released yet? And why will I be disappointed in it?

All in all this is what the notebook will cost (everything is averaged):

    + $ 85 Hard Drive (60GB 5400RPM)
    + $ 70 1GB RAM (1X1024MB)
    ____________________________
    ~ $180 (shipping+tax included)

    + $ 180 RAM+HD
    + $1085 MSI 1039
    + $ 25 Shipping
    + $ 60 Tax
    ____________________________
    ~ $1350 GRAND TOTAL

    + $1350 GRAND TOTAL
    - $1100 This is what my dad is willing to pay
    - $ 90 Savings
    ____________________________
    ~ $ 160 This is how much more money I need :(

So in the end I' ll be paying around $1350 for it and somehow I still need to find $160 :(

There is a big difference between WXGA and WSXGA+ as far as screen real estate goes. I would try to see one in person before you buy, or at least an SXGA+ (WSXGA+ is the wide version of that). The text is considerably smaller, although you can set it up.
If you're going to be viewing photos and doing Photoshop, then a higher resolution screen would be better, because you can see more of the photo - multi-megapixel images are easier to edit on a higher res screen.

It isn't hard at all to install RAM/HDD's in notebooks. All it involves is removing one or two panels on the bottom of the notebook, swapping in the components, and closing it back up.
The MT-30 isn't a slouch at all. I had one (it was actually an ML-30, but same performance) in my last notebook. Very fast and responsive. I would go for a faster one though, if your budget can take it.

A Core Duo processor is a lot faster in Photoshop than a single-core variant. I would go for a dual-core if you plan on using heavy Photoshop.

where are you buying from? xmeld has the system for $885.

edit: nvm, i just realized that you were going to order that with the notebook. although, you could save a few more bucks if you got the processor from newegg too.

It is the same site ChazMan gave to me... And it's $885 for the barebone not the fully functional system.

What's the cause for disappointment; I am actually considering it?
