Let me clarify- i know the difference. Mobile tech is made to limit heat output and power consumption, first and foremost.

But- what is the performance difference between something like a desktop 8600 gt vs an 8600m gt? or a mobility hd 2600xt vs a desktop hd 2600xt?

    anyone know? thanks in advance.

The mobile version will always be weaker. By how much depends. It can range from 20-50% I think.

A midrange mobile will score between a low range and midrange desktop. A high range mobile will score between a mid and hihgh range desktop and so on..
