Hello,
I've been noticing a trend for FPS games lately. Lots of them are basically shooter games that can't even run on like eight-core and quad-video card computers. I noticed that hardly any other types of games are being released for the PC and it starting to annoy me... I'm still playing old games like Ballance, some PopCap Games, FIFA 2000, GTA : SA, Halo 1, Live for Speed, Flight Simulator 2004, Midtown Madness 2, RCT2, Sims 1 (with all expansion) THPS4 and so on. I even enjoy those old Windows Entertainment Pack type games... I'm still enjoying these games and don't plan to move on. It seems that even computers are becoming money making machines.... In the past, a recent game would run fine on a decent pc, now you need some super computer to enjoy a slide-show. I used to upgrade my computer every year.. but now you need to upgrade every week if you want to keep up... I basically gave up.... and plan to buy a laptop next year or so.. should last me a couple of years with the games I play....
I really don't want to buy a console because its a also a money making machine.......
What types of games interest you ? Do you buy the latest hardware from time to time ?
Just take note: I currently have a AMD64 3500+ (Single Core), ATI AIW X800XT and 2GB RAM....

If it weren't a money making machine, it would exist.
I play the good stuff, pretty much everything that rates >8 on Gamespot. -
I play whatever is fun and keeps my attention. I'm not too into FPS as they seem to be a dime a dozen these days, but The Half Life series really grips. Lately I've been playing the crap out of the new Ratchet and Clank and I'm looking forward to the Witcher hopefully when I get a PC that's capable of playing it I will get a chance. Also looking forward to UT3 as I have always liked the fast paced action they offer.

i mainly like playing TES: Oblivion (currently my favorite game of all time), GTA series (SA, VC, 3), and some need for speed: mw and carbon). The only reason i play the NFS is because i hook up my notebook to a projector (roughly 10ft wide) and play with a steering wheel...so it feels like im in the car.

I usually don't stick to a specific type of game, it really depends upon my mood or how good the game is.
Currently:
Hellgate London
Civ 4
UT3 Demo
Monopoly Here and Now
Recently:
Quake 4
AOE 3
A short foray in Entropia
NSF Carbon -
i like the old skool rts's aoe2, HoI, EE, Patrician 3 and the old skool shooters MOHAA, CoD, DOD:S.
plus a few later games like CoH, M2 total war, Warcraft 3, and the occasional game of BF2. plus oblivion and thats about it really. but i have to say that the old skool games are much more fun to play. -
I basically only play FPS.
I enjoy the occasional RTS like CoH or WiC but i never have played and probalby never plan on doing RPG's or MMORPG's... not my style.
Right now: RB6:Vegas, CoD2, Team fortress 2, WiC, CoH, and the occasional FEAR:Combat.
Patiently awaiting CoD4, Crysis, and area 51: blacksite

Doom 3
Warcraft 3
Quake 3
Battlefield 2 and 2142
About all I can think of off the top of my head -
Everything known to man except Racing and Sports.(This is games in general right? I own two consoles)
My current favorites that get played often are Dawn of War(And all its add-ons), Company of Heroes(And add-ons), Guitar Hero III, Warhawk, Crysis beta.
Soon will probably be The Witcher, Crysis, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect.....there are all sorts of other games, like HL2 and Portal that I finished recently, Team Fortress 2. Neverwinter Nights 2(Annd Add-Ons).......Lot's of stuff. -
I play first person shooters, third person shooters and racing games like PGR. Another genre I really like is point and click adventure games and text based adventures, neither of which generally require an 8800gtx to run at highest settings. Those genres have grown stagnant in recent years though.

Mostly FPS these days. I have grown weary of most other genres.
What kind of games do you play ?
