I have came to the conclusion that the only game I play is World of Warcraft. I have been playing a year now and I probally won't change for another so I want to buy a laptop capable of playing it. It doesn't have to be the best but I don't want one that struggles to do it. For those who actually play the game what laptops are you using and how would you rate it's performance?

Any modern laptop can play WOW. Even the Intel GMA 900 can run it smoothly at low settings. The X200 or X300 shoud be able to run it at medium, and the X600 or X700 high. Perhaps you should fill out the FAQ on the Hardeware forum so we know what kind of size you want, and other things you'll be using it for besides WOW. The FAQ is found on the hardware forum.

When i played WoW (Played for about 4 months but didn't have enough time to keep playing) i am playing a Dell I9300.
Specs:
17' widescreen 1900x1200 screen
1.86ghz Centrino
1 GB ram
7200 rpm 60 GB hard drive
256mb GeForce 6800 go card
I got this setup for about 1700 with a 1 year warranty from Dell. (Granted this was in April '05) I was able to play WoW at maxed stats with little to no slowdown. Like 3-5% of the time there would be a slowdown, only really in large parties and lots of action going on.
On the laptop itself, it is of very good build quality, sturdy construction and its runs great. It runs warm when playing graphic intense games, but never runs hot.
Only complaint i have is Dell wasted the space and could have fit a 10 key on system.
Other than that the system has run great for me and never given a problem. -

I too have the Dell I9300, configured a little different, but same effect. WoW playing at 1440x900 resolution, 4x multisampling. Everything on the highest, with almost no lag except in huge groups of people.
Specs are in my sig. -
anyone using the Sony vaio s or fs series for wow???
and which resolution? -
I play some.....struggling but still

I have an Asus z70va "refresh" with 1 GB RAM and the ATI X700 128 MB video card. I have the 15.4" WSXGA+ (1680x1050) screen. I normally run it on mine with the default settings except that I go to 4x multisample, and it's beautiful.
I've used it on 40-man Raids against Onyxia and into Molten Core, to include taking down Ragnaros. My experiences have been that I change the ingame multisample from 4x back to 1x for the 40-man Raids, but keep the resolution at 1680x1050, which works fine for me with the default settings. -

eMachines M6805 is what I've been playing WoW on for the past year... meets all your requirements, except size. It's a beast at 7.5 pounds, 14" wide and 1.6" tall when closed. Nice 15.4" widescreen, tho.
Download the latest Omega/Catalyst drivers for the ATI Radeon 9600, and you're good to go. You can pick up an eMachines M6800 series (or Gateway MX7500 series) on eBay for under 1000 easily.
Yeah, I know, you probly won't. But you asked what I was playing WoW on. -
Ill just saw The Sony Vaio Tx2 will comming out here in Sweden 10 februari,,
Will this laptop play wow ? so i can play a little wow at work?only doing wow at moment,, so just intresting at the game WOW on Sony vaio Tx2

Do you think my crap laptop can play WoW ( with all the settings on low, or off) with these specs :
RAM: 256
CPU : 2.4GHz
Graphics card: 32mb
Thanks. -

It'd be slow. The 256MB of memory is going to kill your performance more than anything, and then the video card is going to be your main bottleneck. At lower settings and resolution you shouldn't have issues though. What kind of video card is it?
-
A radeon IGP 340m (32mb)
-
What Im trying to say is this : Will it run with those specss, o n the lowest possible settings and the lowest possible resolution smoothly?
-

It is going to be a little slow...especially when you just get into a zone, and if there are alot of people in the area.

Wow, that's a really outdated card, no offense . . . I'd try a google search and see if anyone else is playing that game with a card like that.
-
I was able to play World of Warcraft on my wife's HP zv6000 and I was fairly impressed. I ran it at native resolution which is 1280x800 and most low detail. Scaling it back I was able to increase the frame rates but got pretty ugly fast.
-
On my Satellite, I can play WOW in low settings despite my outdated GPU. In addition, I can also play AOE3 on low settings and can even eek out BF2 when I overclock it. However, since your GPU is an IGP the first thing I'd do is add more RAM as others have already stated.

i've had bad experience with glossy screens... had trouble finding the right angle to view it without squinting while using in a bright room.
but why are glossy screens better for gaming?
oh and to return to the topic:
i think wow doesn't demand much out of a system... not sure if it will stay that way after the expansion. i'm planning to get a laptop myself one of these days... been eyeing a Compaq Presario V2570. i think that will run wow quite okay. -
Brighter, more vivid colours and better contrast. It's better for watching videos, etc.
The 200m will run it fine, but don't expect too much! -
even my z63a integrated graphics can run wow with highest settings fine
-
my gateway nx850x playes wow excelent.1gig of ram definatly recomended if you dont want lag in big cities.
-
Runs great on my inspiron 8200 even runs on one of my older systems with 32mb graphics and only 256mb ram though not very well. But it runs fine on my current notebook.
-
Maybe a XPS1210? very portible but yet again it might be a lil small bc it does have a 12 inch screen, but it does have an Nvidia 7400 so it will be able to play the games u want it too.
What laptops are you playing World of Warcraft on?
