Eh, the main difference's are that the first has a single 280m and a Intel i7, while the second has dual 280m's and an Intel t9900. If gaming is your sole purpose, I would take the second.

Better for what? In what way?

It's obvious that the M980NU has two GPUs. What else do you need to know?

The NP9850 also has a larger screen and is bigger and heavier.

Yeah, the one that has 2 GPUs and costs almost $400 more is probably going to win on performance unless you a CPU bound. If you are doing things that are CPU bound, the i7 should pull ahead. Also, anything above 4GB right now is pretty overpriced. Stick to 4GB, you'll be fine, and save some cash to buy games with. :) Unless you get the 9850 of course, in which case... yeah.

it's 3*2gb for the i7, not expensive at all.

If you are doing CPU-intensive tasks (ie: some mathematics simulations programs, video editing, etc), then the NP9280 with the Core i7 would be appropriate. If your main purpose is gaming, the second one would be much better.

Both are going to be gigantic power hogs, so if battery matters at all to you, they may not be the best options.

Good point. I retract that part of my statement. The rest stands though. :)

The Sager NP9280 would own the M980U... The core i7 is way more powerful than T9900 and with windows 7 New WRAP tech which uses CPU power to enhance framerates in games, the Core i7 would help... i would go with the NP9280... 2 GPU's doesn't mean double performance .... sometimes there can be no gain and a lot of pain... I would personally get the NP9280 if i had the cash....

i wonder why clevo won't release a d900f with workstation graphics. it would make THE mobile workstation. i7 overclockable to 3.8ghz and a firepro M7740 with 1gb gddr5. drools
