I have a Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS card in my computer right now. What old classic games could I play on this thing? Games like starcraft, old C&Q games, the old UT game? Could I play any of these, also if you could list old classic games that I could play as well that would be great.

You should be able to play any 2D game - very old 3D games like the original Unreal should run albeit not very well. That chipset is compliant with any version of Direct X up to version 9.

How about just think of a game you want to play, type the name in google plus "system requirements"? That chipset isnt designed for 3D games though.

I have an old desktop with Intel 8xx integrated card with 64MB on board RAM, 512MB of RAM, 2.0 Ghz P4 processor. Which is obviously crappier than yours.

So, here's a list of games that I've played on that system:

Settings - High - Everything is set to ultra high, with maximum resolution of 1024x768
Settings - Medium - Everything is set to high ~ medium, with resolution of 800x600
Settings - Low - Everything is set to low, all effects disabled, with resolution of 800x600

Frame Rate - High - Around 50 FPS
Frame Rate - Medium - Around 30 FPS
Frame Rate - Low -Around 20 FPS

StarCraft + Expansion Set (Settings - High, Frame Rate - Super Ultra High)
Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines (Settings - Medium, Frame Rate - Medium Low)
Medal of Honor European Assault + Expansion Sets (Settings - High, Frame Rate - High)
Call of Duty + Expansion Sets (Settings - Medium, Frame Rate - Medium)
SWAT 4 (Settings - Medium, Frame Rate - Medium Low)
    -- SWAT 4 Expansion Set won't install --
GTA Liberty City (Settings - High, Frame Rate - High)
GTA Vice City (Settings - High, Frame Rate - High)
GTA San Andreas (Settings - Low, Frame Rate - Medium Low)
Halo PC (Settings - Low, Frame Rate - Medium)
Empire Earth + Expansion Set (Settings - High, Frame Rate -Medium)
Empire Earth 2 + Expansion Set (Settings - Low, Frame Rate - Low)
Sims 2 + Expansion Sets (Settings - Low, Frame Rate - Low)
Flight Simulator 2002 (Settings - High, Frame Rate - High)
Flight Simulator 2004 (Settings - Medium Low, Frame Rate - Low)
Half-Life (Settings - High, Frame Rate - Super Ultra High)
    Half-Life 2 + Episode One (Settings - Low, Frame Rate - Low)
Star Wars Battlefront II (Settings - Medium Low, Frame Rate - Medium Low)
Battlefield 1942 (Settings - Low, Frame Rate - Low)
Tomb Raider Legend (Settings - Medium Low, Frame Rate - Medium Low)
Need For Speed Underground 2 (Settings - Medium, Frame Rate - Medium Low)
Need For Speed Most Wanted (Settings - Low, Frame Rate - unplayable)

Silent Hill 4 will not install.
    Doom 3 will not install.
Quake 4 surprisingly installed ok, but with all effects disabled, lowest settings, and I still get around 5 FPS.
Flight Simulator X installed ok, but with all effects disabled, low settings, and it gets around 20-25 FPS.
FryCry did install ok, however, water and ground textures and lighting are screwed up, but still playable.
Call of Duty 2 installed ok, but went black screen and crashed upon launch.
Battlefield 2 installed ok, but went black screen and crashed upon launch.
Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion installed ok, but went black screen and crashed upon launch.

So, basically, any game that does not require Pixel Shader or T&L will technically install fine on my old system. While playable with low settings. Hope this helps you as a reference guide.

    IntelĀ® 915GM/GMS Game Compatibility List

Keep in mind that you'll have to play these games at VERY low settings. Try Minesweeper!

Better yet, download Snes9x and some roms so that you can play Super Nintendo on your computer! Maybe buy a controller too.

When I had that card in my old laptop, I played Command & Conquer: Generals @ 1024x768 res. and low settings and Call of Duty at 1024x768 at max settings. It ran both of those games nicely. I also played Age of Empires 3 @ 800x600 res. @ low settings. So the 915gm isn't a gaming card but it's not useless either. Just make sure you have at least 1GB of ram.

Awesome thanks!! The reason why I ask is that i'm going to buy a new laptop in the near future and i've never been a big pc gamer (except for starcraft and diablo 1 and 2 back in the day), but was thinking of trying out some old games and see if i get into it then maybe i'll look for a more gaming laptop for my next purchase.

The 915 chipset should use the GMA900. On my GMA900, I can play Starcraft, any of the Warcraft games (not WCIII, however), any online flash games or any console-emulated games on a PC.

Half-Life 2 will NOT play outdoors at more than 5 FPS. Any game before 2004 does fine on the GMA900 provided it's turned down to minimum graphics. Homeworld 2 is very choppy.

Project64 (Nintendo 64 emulator) works great on that machine. I had an older GMA900, and it could render Mario64 about about 300fps. That is not a typo. Many ROMs are available, and most work without any trouble.

Neverwinter Nights (the original one that is) would work pretty well also. It is slightly slow on some resolutions, but I didn't have a problem with it.

EDIT: You have the GMA900, so your experience should be similar to what I had. What are your CPU and RAM specs?

This thread has had some of the best responses ever. I laughed a few times.

I happened to notice what you are looking for and can't help but recommend my favorite (price/performance unmatched) Asus G1/G1S. Gaming is an excellent past time for when you have free time and none of your friends do, it is at least more stimulating than TV or a crossword puzzle. (Reading is good too but sometimes you just wanna blow sh*t up)
