Just like the topic says ;p
Assuming same HDD and RAM, which would be a better option? A lappy with an 8600M GT DDR2 512mb with an intel T9300
OR
A 8600M GT DDR3 with an intel t7700.
I would love to get the 9300 on the ddr3 version but it's just not possibleSo which one should I go for?
Any help is appreciated ;p
edit: Also am I right with assuming ANY 8600M GT with 256mb of memory is automatically a DDR3 version? It doesn't say DDR2 or DDR3....
-
go with the ddr3 with the t7700 unless you will be rendering video ALL the time and such.
-
GDDR3 & T7700, easily, assuming price is the same/similar.
-
t7700 and 8600m gt with ddr3. its better for gaming.
-
Gddr3 will be some 15-30% faster and more OCable .
The T7700 is more than enough for gaming, heck, even my T7500 is enough. -
alright good ;p the price is similar, just about $50 more.

What laptop is it?
-
That one is DDR2.
Among the few with GDDR3 you can get the Asus G1S, the Dell XPS M1530 , the Zepto(something I think), but not that compal. -
so even the 256mb version is a ddr2 :/?
-
Yes,
So I`d recommend a XPS1530 , check out the Deals subforum for Dell coupons. -
The only option is vista though :/ and I wouldn't be caught dead with that ;p
I rather go with 8600m GT with 512mb and the t9300... It's like 500+ cheaper then that dell anyway -
Which computer has the T9300 and the 8600M GT?
-
If you're going to be going with the DDR2 version, you may as well hold out for a Vostro deal, I got my system for $880.
-
really? did you use any coupons or anything?
-
$500 off $1249. I upgraded to the T7500, 8600M GT, 160 GB HD, Intel WiFi (This is essential, the Dell card sucks), DVD+RW, and 9 cell battery. $75 for 4GB of RAM from Newegg and my system total was $880.
That's a once every few months Dell deal though but you can still get a similar system for sub-$1000 if you're willing to wait and shop around. HP also has great deals every now and then. -
Why? Are you one of those anti-Vista sheep saying they don't want Vista just because others have complained about it?
There's nothing wrong with Vista w/ SP1. It's a rock-solid o/s imo. Many other gamers and users will also attest to that fact. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it.
Besides, you could always dual boot or go completely over to XP once you get the Vista notebook. -
not entirely :/ some bios won't take XP anymore and try any bench with a vista over a xp, xp will always win. Vista does take a lot of ram just too run and that's not gonna change with any SP.
-
Just install XP, I bought my laptop with Vista so I'd have a legitimate Vista license, and installed my existing copy of XP Professional. Works fine.
What should I chose? 8600M GT DDR2 T9300/ GDDR3 T7700
