Comparatively speaking to my old desktop with the 512mb 8800gts and the e6550... how much slower/lower setting will i be needing?
how close are they is my question i guess.
Also, what 8 series desktop card will the 9650gt be compared to?

it should be about 25% slower(not really i threw up a random number
)
a 9650 in my guess would be about.......30% slower then a desktop 8800 thats still really good though -
I was under the impression most mobile cards are about 1/3-1/2 the performance of their desktop counterpart. So a desktop 8800GTS would perform 3x as well as a laptop 8800M GTS. I would estimate the 9650M GT compares to the desktop 8600GT in terms of performance, maybe an 8600GTS.

my old one preformed very nicely

also consider that ATI's new GPU's use the same stream processors as the desktop version, amazing. -
I could be wrong, that was info I got here on NBR when asking about the 8800GTS in the FX 6860 vs a desktop 8800GTS G92.
Was told that the laptop version would perform about 1/3 as well.
EDIT: I googled for some sort of confirmation and found the old thread, where I was told it would be about 1/3 slower not 1/3 the performance. Sorry for that! -

lol i knew it no harm done

9650M would perform like desktop 9500GT (32SP) -

9500 GT is right on the money, if the 9650M is DDR3. I'm going to guess the 9500 GT is identical to the desktop 8600 as well.

I think it might be slightly faster than the 8600, but you prob won't be able to see a real difference.

THe 8800 GTS 512mb would be at least 3 times faster than the 9650m GT.
128spu's vs 32
650MHz core vs 550
1625MHz shader vs. 1325
970MHz, 256Bit memory vs 800MHz, 128bit
The 8800 would play nearly any game on high settings on a 22" monitor(1680 x 1050) while the 9650 will struggle to push high settings in new games @ 1280 x 800.
The 9650m GT is a little faster than the 8600 GT and slower than the 8600 GTS, and almost identicle to the 9500 GT(as pointed out) -
Thanks! Guys!
What should i expect from ym new laptop?
