With Oct 14 now a definite I was wondering what you all thought we would see in the new macbooks in terms of GPU. I think an integrated chipset along the lines of a nVidia 9200 in the base macbook looks like a good bet. As for the MBP I'm thinking a 9600m GT, although I'm not sure how it'll be clocked since there are rumors that the new MBP will be even thinner. I'd love a 256-bit 9700m GTS, but the 60w voltage looks like a bit much for such a small laptop. What do you guys think?

ROFL... a 9700m GTS... I wish. Well I don't because with that incredibly aluminium shell, it'll melt or burn your desk/lap/future children.

9600m GT DDR3 is quite logical. Possibly even the 9650 GT. I've got the Asus G50V-A1 with the 9700m GT. Its massive but GPU temps are barely constrained at 80C (i also live in singapore)

The 9200M is a dedicated card with 256MB of VRAM plus system RAM obtained using TurboCache. But, I don't think they'll ramp up the graphics power in the MacBook, otherwise it would compete with the MacBook Pro and leave Apple with no system with an IGP solution.

I hope that Apple will stay away from Nvidia.

Just my opinion or wish really, but I think the new MBP will have a 9700M GTS or 9800M GT or Mobility 4850 with Quad core CPU available !!! I think they will have the heating problem under control. God Bless :)

Not gonna happen because of the partnership with intel...
About the new GPu it will probably be:
    Macbook: 4500MHD
    MBP: 9600m GT or HD3650.

probably the x4500 IGP...passing up the vastly superior HD3200 because of partnership with Intel; you can vote with your wallet by not getting the intel IGP maybe they'll realize that they actually have to compete with AMD's performance

If its the HD3650 I will cry...that's like a downgrade from the 8600m GT even if some/a lot are faulty.

Macs don't need high-end GPUs, most Mac owners are not gamers. Apple's top concerns are battery life, lower heat build-up, and costs. Apple has never kept up with the PC world in terms of constant GPU changes. They upgrade their GPUs very slowly.
