    Is there that much of a difference between the NVidia Geforce 8600gt and the Geforce 9700m GTS?

    The 9700m GTS is much more powerful, if I'm not mistaken it's close to the 8 series 8800m GTS. The 9-series equivalent to the 8600GT is the 9500m GS.
