What PC games that haven't been released yet are you looking forward to playing the most? If you can, please state why and also let us know about the approximate release date if you know it. You don't have to list just the ones coming out in the near future - ones in the distant future (but have been confirmed!) are ok too. Hopefully this can be sort of a heads-up for others. Here are my top 10 (with current U.S. release dates, sorry for the bias), and I'll rank them since I love to rank things:

    1. Starcraft 2 - Follow-up to my fave strategy game of all-time. Previews look amazing!
Release date: Blizzard says "when it's done". I predict 12/08
    2. Aliens (RPG) - A game in my fave genre based on my fave movie of all-time by Obsidian (formerly Black Isle Studios... Fallout series, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale series, KOTOR2, NWN2)!?! Hellz ya! There's also an Aliens FPS coming out on consoles only. :/
    Release date: 2009
    3. Warlords Battlecry IV - The first true RTS/RPG hybrid series. Very underrated. Can't wait!!
Release date: None yet. I predict 2009
    4. Dragon Age - From Bioware, the company who made the Baldur's Gate series, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, and currently Mass Effect (for consoles). It's been called the "spiritual successor" to BG2, but the perspective will be KOTOR/JE style.
Release date: None yet. I predict 2009
    5. BioShock - Pretty much System Shock 3, from the same creators. Please go and play SS2 if you haven't!
Release date: 8/21/07 (holy crap that's almost here!!!)
    6. TimeShift - FPS with time travel and manipulation (slow down/speed up) at a whim? Sign me up!
    Release date: 10/03/07
    7. Hellgate: London - From some of the Diablo folks, so it's sort of a Diablo 3.
    Release date: 10/31/07
    8. Grand Theft Auto IV - Yup, you know the one. A lot of hype about this game.
Release date: None yet (console release is 10/08). I predict 6/09
    9. Fallout 3 - Love the Fallout series, and this time with much better graphics!
    Release date: 3/08
    10. World Series of Poker 2008 - Yes, I'm THAT big of a poker person, hoping that they finally get one right.
    Release date: 9/25/07

Any thoughts on the above? I purposely didn't put any expansion packs up there even though they could be (e.g., NWN2, FEAR, C&C3 expansions). So, what'd I "forget"? (I can already hear it.. 'Where's Crysis? Spore? Far Cry 2? Call of Duty 4? The Sims 9?") Let's hear your lists! ;)

Out of your list, I'm only anticipating Bioshock, TimeShift, GTA 4, and Fallout 3.

First of all, GTA4 is NOT being released in October for consoles or PC or anything. It has been delayed to April 2008, which is for the console release. The PC version will either come with them or much after.

I've never played System Shock 2 or any of the Fallout games. However, Fallout 3 looks amazing after reading some previews and looking at screenshots. Bioshock...not much to say about it. The game is awesome.

    1) Starcraft II. The sequel to the classic RTS game that wowed everyone when it was released. So far everything is great. I love it, I want it ;).

My release date prediction: June 2008

    2) Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties. Adds China, Japan and India into AOE III, with all new units like samurai, flamethrowers, elephants. This is gonna be fun.

My release date prediction: November 2007

    3) The Sims 3. Who knows what EA/Maxis can do next? But better graphics, better gameplay is already enough for me to buy it.

My release date prediction: February 2009

don't really care about Starcraft 2, not the biggest fan of Starcraft 1, it feels like just any other RTS to me

I'm really excited for Will Wright's Spore...it seems like a pretty vast "god game" (basically you create a creature from its cellular beginnings, eventually taking it through its technological advances until they roam the galaxy in faster-than-light ships).

Unfortunately, it's been delayed at least once -- I believe one time from May '07 to September '07, and evidently, now it's into 2008. I really hope it's as exciting and fun as it would seem...and also that it doesn't have a dozen plus sequels like The Sims...

Call of Duty 4 truly looks amazing. The gameplay is features is just incredible. I don't need to say anything about the graphics, because the game looks very next-gen to me....except the horrible grass haha....Jagged.....

I really like all the "perks" in multiplayer...like Dead Silence...and Double-Tap. Check out these videos if you haven't already:

Dead Silence; Melee Attack; One Hit Kills from Behind
C4 - Explosives; Many uses in game
    Sleight of Hand
    Double Tap - Increased efficiency/accuracy
Deep Impact - Shoot through walls with certain weapons

Thanks for the clarification, my bad for quickly perusing a website that did not have the updated info. And actually, now that I've read about it more, it has in fact been delayed to Oct 2008; oh, and the PC version always comes out later, when it comes to Rockstar Games. I will update my original post. BTW, I think you should at least try SS2, it was revolutionary and the atmosphere is tough to beat.

I'd like to think that SC2 would be out by then and that is a popular prediction on the SC boards... but they're still in alpha stage, still tweaking. No beta, and then there's the beta testing. And since it's Blizzard, I add about 6-12 months to anything they say or to what ppl usually predict, lol.

Awwwww... why does it "feel like just any other RTS"? It's pretty different from even a lot of RTS' nowadays b/c of the 3 unique sides, awesome story, detailed world, typical Blizzard humor, and super-strong online community after 9+ yrs!

Yeah, I read that Spore is now projected for March-May 2008.

LOL, see I knew it was coming. Seems like a great game, and it won the critics' award for Best of Show at E3, but probably just because I'm not as into FPS and I think that BioShock and TimeShift will be more creative and innovative. But maybe not, we shall see!

I was really dissappointed when they first delayed, then cancelled Starcraft: Ghost. I was really looking forward to that game and following all the news. I really wanted to play as Nova, haha. I was never a fan of Starcraft 1 at all. I played it for a while and then I really just...deleted it. I did not enjoy it that much, but different people enjoy different things, especially when it comes to RTS games.

I already know that Crysis is going to be the best looking game out by the time it comes out. Bioshock looks awesome, but Crysis pretty much beats everything with it's realistic graphics and the AI looks superb as well.

Thing is, everything you mentioned came out 4-9 years after Starcraft did so those games certainly have an advantage, like graphics, other advancements in RTSs, and also learning from the SC model. So, part of it is probably the excitement at the time because it was revolutionary. Having said that, even though the games you mentioned are quite good, I could go into a treatise about the virtues of Starcraft... but I'll spare everyone. ;)

Yes, I'm a big fan of Nas and his lyrics.

Yep, the same from my PoV...this only applies to SC vs CnC, though. I have always liked all the CnC games more than SC.

HaZe is a PS3 timed exclusive. Do you even KNOW the company making the game? They didn't sez anything but the fact that it's a PS3 exclusive this year.

Yes, there is a PC version of Haze.....

    http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/haze/index.html?tag=result;title;1

You fail. Look anywhere, it is coming out on PC as well as Xbox 360 and PS3. Get your facts straight.

yeah i'm aware of that, when starcraft came out I liked the game but didn't feel revolutionary or anything seemed to me like a Warcraft 2 with calvary changed into tanks, dragons changed into spaceships etc. now there are plenty of RTS with better graphics and gameplay(some might disagree) I find no reason to play starcraft anymore.

Too many games to list, spanning accross PC, 360, and PS3. I'll list some of my most wanted though.

Mass Effect - I just love RPGs and I love Bioware. The game just seems awesome.

Heavenly Sword - I really enjoy the PS3 and I just want it to have some sweet games, and this game seems to take the best parts of several other games I enjoy, namely God of War and Dynasty Warriors little bit of Devil May Cry.

Bioshock - It's coming out soon and it comes from the System Shock 2 creators.

Others are: Loki, Tabula Rasa, NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer, Crysis, GTAIV, Fallout 3, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, Lair, Lost Odyssey, HL2: Orange Box stuff, and well about a million other things.

I don't fault you for your choice for what you play or like. I'm still trying to understand the 'why', however. The 'SC = WC in space' argument was out since E3 the year before SC came out, and I could again go into a treatise about how SC is way beyond WC2, but I won't. Instead I'll just mention one: 3 unique sides vs. 2 sides that had mostly analogous units. And I say that having a ton of familiarity with both games since I loved WC2 as well. I do remember the vibe at the time was that people were not saying that SC was revolutionary, but a step up. I think as we look back, we can see that it was revolutionary, based on its influence, popularity, and staying power.

How can there be an offline MMORPG.....doesn't it mean Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game?

And why ProStreet? There are so many better racing games than it, arcade and simulation both.

I really wish NFS would go back to it's roots and do a Hot Pursuit/Most Wanted fuse with lots of cop chases and lots of car customization.

BioShock: I wish they'd release a PC demo for this game, heh. Hopefully it turns out as good as its predecessors.

Call of Duty 4: The new additions and setting are intriguing. I'm hoping this game really brings the franchise back up. CoD2/3 sucked in comparison to CoD1/UO, imo.

WarHammer Online: Only if the PvP is good.

That's because there is not much info on it yet. All I saw was some concept art and new wallpapers at GameWallpapers.com

I'm looking forward to it though.

It's all personal preference. I used to be very into CoD1/UO multiplayer. CoD2's multiplayer was really lacking to me especially since Infinity Ward removed so much that Grey Matter Interactive had added (like sprinting). That and I hated the health system... It works in a game like Halo. WWII? Not so much.

Edit: This is not to say that health packs are realistic or anything. Just classic and worked better for CoD's MP, imo.

Yeah...of course I understand that everyone likes different games. What I meant was....I have played all three, CoD1-2-3, very recently all at the same time. CoD1 and CoD2 on PC and CoD3 on Xbox 360...and I noticed CoD2 is basically a better looking version of CoD1? Am I missing something? About the sprinting...most of the games I played were modded....allowing sprinting...so I got no complaints there.

Also, doesn't CoD1 have the same health system as CoD2?

CoD2 is largely different from CoD1/UO besides the graphics (which I preferred the original's anyways). The mechanics are somewhat different (the way weapons handle), there are less weapons, no vehicles (which some thought were bad anyways, but I found them to be quirky and added something new and fun), it's somewhat slower paced in my experience and CoD1/UO is just a better vanilla game. The health system is very different in both of them unless you're playing on some mod. CoD1/UO is a traditional health pack system and CoD2 can be said to be similar to Halo 2. All imo. /rant

Wait....are you saying CoD1 has vehicles or CoD2?....I don't remember using any vehicles in CoD2....I played it a lot a few months ago.

    SCII ftw . . . . ..

I prefer RTS to FPS games, and I used to like RA,RA2 quite a lot. At first I didn't like WCIII, but after a friend taught me how to play it properly, I started to find out that it was a lot more fun and challenging to play (very thankful for their world editor that makes a lot of fun and different maps ) . . .

I tried SC a while after . . .. was awed considered that it was a very old game . . . . saw the previews of SCII, WOW! When will I get to play that game!?!?

No Gears of War fans here? They're making it for PC (with DX10) and the developers said the graphics will be the best in one of the interviews (even better than Crysis in a different way they say)...lol ;) I haven't played the Xbox360 version so I'm looking forward to it. For RTS I'm waiting for World of Conflict... Hopefully it'll be good...
