Maybe that high end DX9 notebook is not such a great choice atm if you can deal with what you have![]()

Maybe Crysis, god only what is needed to run that game
Maybe Halo3, Halo2 is looked worse than FEAR and FEAR is only DX9
Maybe 2 or 3 year after DX10 appear it will shine, but I dont think it will now, lot of people out there till have DX9 system, cant just tell them to throw it away and get DX10.
I was wrong , Crysis is DX9 now. my bad, sorry -

Crysis? ****, its true, it may be dx9, but who knows what kinda of rig you'll need to play it. Im guessing dual 7900 GTX's in SLI.

Maybe, i saw it in a Gaming Mag and the editor said something about super uber hardware mass killer.
Lol, they make a monster and now we have to feed it.
Maybe I should go back to my PS2.
But no doubt the DX10 will be more beautiful, but not now, now is till the DX9 time. -

There will be games before or on launch that will have DX10 modes which will look better and possibly perform better aswell. You wont be able to unlock Vista propperly (in terms of games) without a DX10 card.
-
Of course DX10 and vista are going to be hardware sucking software. However what about the power requirements on DX10 video cards? well according to ATI and nVidia they are going to require 300watts to run the video card, now I am sure they will have a mid range unit what in the 200 watt range? So yeah a DX10 laptop is going to be the size of a car but hey why not? More then likely we won't see much on DX10 on laptops till both nVidia and ATi come out with the die shrink of whatever they release come dec.
-
I think we'll have to wait a little bit for DX10 videocards notebooks to come around, if its so power consuming we'll only be seing in big laptop too! We even have to wait for some real games in it to, because if you say that crysis is still DX9 only god knows whats it's coming!
-
crysis is DX9????? that means we dx9 carders have a slight chance of playing it???

No, Crysis is DX10 only, but there is a chance it could run on DX9 hardware running the DX10 API. Also you will need Windows Vista since there willbe no DX10 for xp.
-
Actually, this bit from Gamespot says quite the opposite...Crysis will be DX9 and DX10 enabled...could change of course...but I don't think any developer in their right mind would go to DX10 only...since about 5% of folks would be the only able to play your game.
It's too early to talk about system requirements, but Yerli said that you'll probably want a pretty powerful PC to enjoy the game. While they haven't identified a target CPU, you will need a graphics card with support for shader model 2.0. With that said, he noted that Far Cry was pretty scalable on a wide variety of systems once it shipped, so we can expect the same with Crysis. The game will ship with support for both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10, the upcoming version of DirectX that will be included with Windows Vista. And while the game will certainly run well with DirectX 9, he noted that you'll probably see better performance with DirectX 10 and Windows Vista, thanks to the performance improvements Microsoft has made." - GameSpot (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/crysis/news.html?sid=6146560&mode=previews) -
Hmm, I will have to find the E3 articles that said it was DX10 only, but yes I would think DX9 GFX cards will play it but you will more then likely still need vista OS.

Crysis will be both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10. If it was only DirectX 10, there would not be a market for it. The DirectX 9 version will run on XP.
-
You are right, it will run on DX9 my apologies, it does look like you will want a DX10 card though to get the whole eye candy
What we can expect from DX10
