Hey there. Long time reader, first post.
So anyway here are the basic specs for the notebook that I have ordered:
HP dv9500t
2GB ram
windows vista home premium
intel core 2 duo (2.0 ghz) processor
160GB HDD
Nvidia Geforce 8600m GS
I was wondering if with these specs, I will be able to play current and future games well on high settings.
i currently play these games: BF2, BF2142, AOE3, company of heroes, and a little cs:s.
Thanks

i doubt on high, but you should prolly be able to play them on med/high or just med, but def low
-
I think the correct question would be, what CANT it play..... and I mean that for basically any video card.
-
medium to high for some and high for some of the games you listed. future games depends on how graphics intensive they are. those games you listed are quite old so it should be fine at 1024x768 res
-
thanks everyone for getting my hopes up. a lot of people were saying that this card was terrible and i'd have to play everything on low.
-
Age of empires goes native on mine,BF2 gets 60fps on 1024x768 but i only tested it on singleplayer, company of heroes goes high-1280x800(not ultra high) all without AA
-
BF2 and cs:s I played on all I high settings with 4x/8x AA. It plays very smooth. I didn't check fraps for bf2, but for cs:s with all settings high with 8xCSAA and 16x ansio I get 50-60 fps in all maps (30-40 fps if the map is hdr).

All of the games you listed will be playable on your GPU. Medium to high settings. You'll also be able to play games such as World in Conflict and other DX10 games at medium settings. Possibly lower settings with games such as Crysis.

Allright thanks again.
-
company of heroes is the most demanding in that list,
a 8700M gets about 34-35fps on max settings -
ok keep it up. i need to make sure that it is all good.
