I'm considering buying an HP dv5z because of the amazing deals there are on these machines right now.
The config i'm considering is the following:
- AMD Turion(TM) X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor ZM-82 (2.2GHz)
- FREE Upgrade to 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) from 1GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)!!
- 256MB ATI Radeon(TM) HD 3450 Graphics
My question is what will this machine be able to run games wise? Are we talking minimal to not at all gaming abilities or what?
I'm not a gamer, but from time to time i have games i want to run just for the fun of playing them, don't really care to run it on the highest settings there are but just so it runs smoothly on medium-low settings.
What do you think? Will it be enough?
Thanks!

nothing amazing......
old games will run fine w/ the hd 3450 (which is not really a gaming card)
newer and moderately demanding games will run at medium settings
the top notch games will run at poor settings to the point of unplayability -

What kind of games are we talking here? Old copies of Warcraft III, yeah sure.
Help us help you by throwing out some title you want specific answers for. Crysis or COD4? most likely it be pretty daunting for that system.
Here's a couple reviews, desktop models. http://www.legitreviews.com/article/652/8/

Mostly racing games like NFS series, GRID, BMW M3 Challange, MS flight simulator x. Like i said i don't care about high settings, i just want it to look good and be atleast in the 30-40 FPS range.
The reason i'm asking is because i do know this is not a gaming card but not to be forgotten that thank to hybrid crossfire the two cards (the 3200 and the 3450) will be combined, and as far as i know the 3200 itself is equal to the 8400 gs performance wise and the 3450 must be something around twice as good. So i thought they should get me some nice results together. -

You've read through these posts right?

ahahahha, you made my night.
The 3200 is equal to the 8400 gs, the 3450 is slightly better, behind the 8400 gt. Hybrid SLI isnt meant for perfomance, its meant for saving power and battey life. Excpect to run most games u mentiomed on Low -
Those games you mentioned are GPU hungry. I wouldn't expect very high FPS even at low settings. Run it at 1280x800 too for best performance.
You should consider minimum GeForce 8600m GT GPU if you want to run those games with some eye candy. -
There is a thread about this stickied at the top of this forum. But to give you some insight my ATi 3200, turion X2 Ultra 2.1GHz can max Orangbox games at 1280x800, as well as I play all UT games including UT3 at max res and med-high settings.

lol typing your location in binary? liquidxit if its your real location then i know what it says xD....any way. How well would a 9500M GS run crysis i don't care about all settings just shadows and shaders they make the whole detailing of the game. Also Far Cry 2?

Why noobs always bring up the old threads? Especially the OP isn't around since half year ago.

Please read the stickies before you post. There is a thread at the top of the page titled " Can My Notebook Run It? - Ask about your notebook here". I can't make the thread title any more obvious.
What will this configuration be able to run?
