I was just wondering what the thinnest notebook is with at least a 9600M GT (preferably better though). I don't care if it's a 19" screen, as long as it's less than an inch thick.

Does anything like this exist? (excluding the MacBook Pro) and if not, what is the thinnest 'gaming' notebook?

    Thanks for any help!

I also should have added, if you wait around there will probably be an even slimmer gaming notebook coming out later this year. Especially when this transition to 40nm happens.

Not a FAMAS, as I believe that specific gun in the game uses a conical magazine :) Though it is funny that they are using Killzone 2 imagery hehe......

In Germany, at least. It's a bummer that it isn't sold in the US.

So you're telling me that there is absolutely nowhere in the U.S. (brick and mortar or online) that sells the P310? So the only way I could possibly obtain one would be physically traveling to Germany to buy it in person?

    AFAIK, yes.

You could try eBay, an auction with international shipping. But ive heard theyre rarely on there either.
I dont think its only in Germany. I think its available in all of Europe. But im not positive ;)

The LG P310 with the 9600GT is only available in Europe. The P310 is available in Canada (and possibly the US) with lower specs.

Your options are as ahl395 said - travelling, ebay, and international postage from Germany, but it is quite expensive. Notebook.de and another site listed in the LG P310 subsection will ship it for you, if you are prepared to spend the money.

It's not a cheap laptop due to demand.

    - Also it doesn't have an integrated DVD-drive if that is important to you.

Not really a gaming laptop, more a media machine, put the Dell Studio XPS 16 equipped with a 4670 is capable and on the thin side. Configure it with a 1600x900 screen and it should do fine as a gaming laptop without being too bulky.

the M9750 / m17 is very thin considering it's a 17inch notebook that is SLI / Crossfire capable.

Please tell me this is sarcasm... Please.

However, if you're going crossfire/SLI, the 18.4" Sager is thinner... But I don't think it's what the OP had in mind.

+1 for the MSI's by the way... GT725 or GT627

the notebook is no more than an inch and a half to an inch and 3/4 thin. the NP9850 is the same thickness...

so yes, if you wish to consider that sarcasm, then it is

Yeah, I think it was unclear by my original post- I'm really trying to find something absolutely thin or light, not relatively. Those notebooks are thin for gaming notebooks, but when you're a student carrying 30lbs of books around all day every day, another 9lbs doesn't really help, even if it is only an inch thin. :)

So I guess my revised question would be:

What is the LIGHTEST gaming notebook? And by gaming, I'd also lower my GPU requirements- something with at least a 9300M GS would work. Right now I'm leaning towards the Vaio Z590: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...Id=8198552921644570897&parentCategoryId=16154

    Any thoughts on it?

    Thanks for the help guys!

The above are all great suggestions. The 13" will still be the lightest option, as it has less physical area than the other laptops. Something important to remember is that the thinner (and hence lighter) you reduce the ability for the laptop to properly vent. Gaming laptops already have enough issue getting their temps down, and decreasing the amount of space for an extra fan or vent can create even more issues. You may want to look into a different option. I don't know how invested into the gaming laptop idea, but possibly going with a netbook (the superior budget choice for students) and a desktop might be best. They can both be had for about the same budget as gaming laptops. Even a netbook and large desktop replacement laptop is a better idea. That's just my 2 cents...

Yeah, the 9300m is gonna struggle in a lot of games... you asked for the thinnest gaming notebook, not the gamingest thin notebook... kinda like the difference between orangish-red and redish-orange.

Anyway, If you can swing for a smallish 15.4", the GT627 from MSI is really good. It's no bigger than a standard inspiron, weighs less than 6 lbs, and gets over 3 hours from the 9-cell.

Next step below that would be the N81 from Asus, but it's really not that much smaller/lighter.

For 13", these 3 from Newegg all have the 4570, which has twice the power of a 9300.

i <3 my n81 for what it's worth. But if you decide go to with it, get the n81vp.

it comes with the ATI card along with a T9550 instead of a P8600. I hate the p8600, only 3MB of L2 cache :p

well... there is an Acer netbook with a dedicated gpu.

generally, i wouldn't recommend carrying a notebook for gaming to class, but that's just my opinion.
