Try to run it in DOSbox! I think it should run fine. I'd tell you if I could just remember where I put those floppies 8 years ago. :(

Earthsiege 1 seems to run fine in DOSbox, ES2 unfortunately doesn't. Comanche 3 works well if you have a strong CPU. The same goes for the DOS version of C&C RedAlert 1.
Dune and Master of Orion II even run quite fine on a netbook. Ikarion Zeppelin does as well, but I guess nobody here knows it. ;)

You said floppies and all I could think about was back in the day, installing Win98 off of 30+ floppy disks...one..by one...by one...

Oldest game i currently play? Hm, well I've played Diablo 2 recently, but I wouldn't consider myself actively playing it. Most games I currently play are relatively recent.

That was an awesome game. I must have played through it at least 5 times. Though I'd have to say that Final Fantasy Tactics was better combat wise, though less in-depth (no base building, or weapons research). I wish they'd come out with a new game in this style. (on a real system, like PC or Xbox360; not PSP or Nintendo DS)

    Try Jagged Alliance 2 (1999 or something) or a JA2 1.13 mod
some1 is making JA3 now, tho my expectations for it are quite low

There's also a remake of XCOM called UFO:Extraterrestrials, but other than graphics it's worse than XCOM ..... /FACEPALM

    StarCraft and Halo PC.

I haven't played this one in a while, but I just wanted to get the name out there: Novastorm.

Try finding some videos for it on YouTube; it has some great music.

    Master of Orion
    X-Wing
    Doom

Not sure which is the oldest...Doom was the first of the three that I played...X-Wing and Master of Orion were the reasons that I bought my own PC in 1994...

I regularly play Master of Orion under DosBox...and technically, I play newer versions of X-Wing (Collectors' series with the LucasArts XP patch) and Doom (Ultimate Doom) than the originals from 1993...and I don't play either of these too often...Doom is for nostalgia only (Duke Nukem 3D was a lot more fun) and it always takes me a while to remember how to adjust my shields/lasers/engines on X-Wing and use the keyboard to adjust throttle...

I emulate a lot of older stuff on my laptop that I regularly play with the oldest being from the arcade (mame...typically Black Tiger or Cyberball), Commodore 64 (CCS...typically Raid on Bungeling Bay or Questron) and NES (Ultra...typically Mike Tyson's Punchout, Super Mario Bros., Kid Icarus or Metroid)...

I miss my Dreamcast SOOOO much :(

Now that was a console with a lineup of extremely fun/entertaining games.

I tried House of the Dead @ "Sega City" (a gigantic Sega building with massive amounts of Sega arcades) in Toronto a VERY long time ago :) Great classic!

Doom I and II using doom 95 so it works in win 7! Also massive homeworld fan. Discovered it upon release of Homeworld Cataclysm and bought the other two shortly after so own all three :)

Unfortunately I get bored of games completely after 2 or 3 play through's so haven't played them for a couple of years.

Also Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2. Best RTS of all time

how is tie fighter? i only had x-wing vs tie fighter, which while fun, i read that its different from the other games, in that theres less of a story mode. i have x-wing alliance too and that one has a good singleplayer mode with story and stuff, is that what tie fighter is like too?

Well let me tell you, Tie fighter is my all time fav. Basically you went from being a nobody pilot to the second in command in Vader's Scuadron and the fav. pilot of the emperor (he even gives you a cool tattoo)... Missions were very well designed, you have to actually think what to do and how to accomplish it. I was way way better than any other starwars sim at the time.

Oh and don't let me get started on flying these two babies: Missile Boat - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki
TIE/D Defender - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki

I just got original Starcraft running on win 7 with the few tweaks out there, I think I can finally play it reliably again. I have tried but cannot get motoracer 1 and 2 to run on win 7, otherwise I would be playing those as well.

Totally . . . I just fired it up for an hour, turned into two hours -- great game.

Something I forgot about it is the amount of keyboard shortcuts. There are a lot to memorize -- it is essential to playing the game effectively. Flight mechanics -- dealing with your laser/shield/engine power levels, etc -- not an easy game.
What I really need to do is get a joystick. The joystick I used to play the game with has a serial port. ;)
