What's within my budget? I have 1000$ to spend on a gaming laptop, I already have a good gaming mouse. I don't know a lot about specs, but what could I get for this much?

    1) What is your budget?

    $1000

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?

    either of these:
    b. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
    c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen

    3) Please select your country's flag as a post icon and tell us what country
    are you buying this in.

    USA west coast

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

Dell or any gaming company in budget

    5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?

Lots of gaming, I need 10 or so games installed

    6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

I will be taking it to different places often.

    7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?

Yes, Rose Online, WoW, Wc3, CS:S, Maplestory, Battlefield, & a good couple others.

    8) How many hours of battery life do you need?

This isn't too important, about an hour or more would be good.

    9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

Online is fine as long as it is a reputable source.

    10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.

I'm going to go with Vista, even though it can have some trouble with a couple of the games.

Check the gateway mentioned above and also check out the Asus G50vt laptops, maybe you can find the one at best buy on sale for 1099dlrs and it comes equipped with a 9800M GS. The screen is somewhat low resolution, but its gaming performance is amazing.

There are lots of deals out there, I am sure there is also a Toshiba near this budget with a 9700GTS equipped. Good stuff.

ASUS should be at the top of your list-

    ASUS M51Ta-X2- $849 (on sale, $150 off)
    2.2GHz AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-82
512mb ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3650
    15.4" WXGA+ 1440x900 display
    4GB DDR2-800 RAM
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220349

    ASUS N80Vn-X1- $899 (on sale, $100 off)
    2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5800
    14.1" WXGA 1280x800 LED-backlit display
    1024mb (1GB) nVIDIA 9650M GT graphics card
    4GB DDR2-800 RAM
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220389

    ASUS N50Vn-A1B- $949 (on sale, $50 off)

same specs as N80Vn-X1 except this model has 15.4" WXGA 1280x800 CCFL (non-LED) display
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220393

The links provided for the ASUS models are to Newegg.com. FYI- Newegg only charges sales tax on orders to CA, NJ and TN. :D The ASUS models all include a 2-year Warranty and 1-year Accidental Damage Coverage STANDARD!

The other suggestion I'd have would be a DELL XPS M1530 from the DELL Outlet- http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSales/topics/global.aspx/arb/online/en/InventorySearch?c=us&cs=22&l=en&s=dfh

Normally I'd recommend an XPS M1530 when they have good coupons/specials, but ****, Dell can't beat those prices.

The current XPS M1530 coupons are 20% off $1299+ or 30% off $1699+.

The best I could do was $1304, minus 20% (260.80) making the total $1043.20 plus tax-

    XPS M1530
Windows Vista Home Premium (32- or 64-bit)
    2.1GHz T8100
    WXGA+ 1440x900 LED-backlit LCD w/ 2.0mp Webcam
    3GB DDR2-667
    320GB 5400rpm HD
    DVD RW
    256mb nVIDIA 8600M GT
    Intel 4965AGN wireless card
    Dell 355 Bluetooth module
    Fingerprint Reader
15-mos McAfee, Trend Micro or Norton
    1-yr Warranty
    6-cell Battery

Even though I'm a DELL fan (see signature), the ASUS N80 and N50 are better deals!
