ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
Battlefield 1942. I remember getting that within the first month it came out and couldn't put it down. I had dial-up at the time so I couldn't play any multiplier but the single player was fun as hell.
Once I got cable, I never left my room.
Currently, my favorite fps are Left 4 Dead and Counter-Strike:Source... both of which I completely own.. -
-

The graphics in BF42 are dated, but the gameplay is still what team-based military-style FPS's strive for. It's just fun. I still play BF2 & BF Vietnam as well from time to time, when I want a more modern game environment.

vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.
cs 1.6, never gets old...L4D was fun gonna get to play more modern games when i get my laptop up but through out my 8 years of playin games (PC) i've always stick to cs 1.6

i like cod1.....still has a pretty good player community.
-
EDIT: Oops didnt notice I already posted, so... yeah TF2!!
-
Call of Duty 4 on 360 because I'm boring, on PC it has to be CS:S for the same reason
-
CSS, BF2, DODS, Combat Arms (I have only seen one other person list this. If you haven't tried it you really must, its pretty fun with customizable weapons, ranking system, and best of all FREE!)
-
I agree completely.
Although I have high hopes for FEAR 2 as well! -
My favorite FPS hasn't been made yet I believe...
COD4 is very close, but the lack of offline play possibilty (that is offline bots for MP) is a turn off...
That's why I play a lot of the UT franchise as well...But I like the "realistic" warfare context (as opposed to scifi)....
A mix of both would amazing...maybe some of you will tell me that it's GOW2...but where the hell is the PC version???
if you guys have suggestion, I'dlove to hear them!!!
So for now,
1. COD4
2. UT2004
3. UT3
4. BF2 -

There is ONLY ONE multiplayer FPS game worth playing:
Unreal Tournament series.
COD isn't that bad.
GOW/BF just meh!
CS sucks.

Does anyone here play the Forgotten Hope 2 mod for Battlefield2 ?
I would highly suggest this game, its a polished game, probably the finest conversion mod out there. It brings WW2 to your screen. Love it !! (as kevin would say)

HANDS DOWN -
Call of Duty 4 is my least favorite multilayer fps.
I'd saaay...um...I dunno. The Battlefield series have been fairly good. Counter Strike is probably top dog though. -
Cod4 (period)
-

but it is STILL the best.
and the next patch will RAWK! -
1) TF2
2) Warrock
3) UT3 -
I have all sorts
CoD4, TF2, CSS, Battlefield 2, L4D, DoD:S.
I only really play L4D though, is so much fun if you got some friends who also love it as much as you!
Its not getting old for me at all.... -

My all time favs are Q2 and UT. I LOVED Q2 LMCTF(Loki's Minions Capture the Flag), everything since then is just fluff. Better graphics, but gameplay has never been the same.

I lied in my last post.
Unreal 2k4 forever -

i love UT2k4 as well. wth..my skills are almost in pro level
in that game. but i still prefer UT3 now. -
Been playing a lot of CoD5 still, over 100 hours logged >.>

UT3 is really good. all UT players agree on this.
the reason UT3 earned a bad reputation is due to its
stupid UI, server browser, installation etc etc.
but the gameplay is solid.
they have fixed most of the things by now.
Titan pack will bring fixes for all the remaining things
along with the biggest bonus pack ever. -
I just feel it doesn't have the replay value that 2004 and the original had. It just seems to be lacking...something. I'm not really sure what.
I guess I'd say something along the lines of this: "Much of what made UT2k4 and UT99 so great have been stripped from UT3. If you're a fan of the movement styles of 2k4 then you'll be greatly disappointed as the jump dodge has been removed. Jumping in itself is bad enough because some obsticles just aren't low enough for the character to jump over even with double jump. Fans of both eras will notice that the colors are washed with 100 types of gray and brown. The absense of bright colors (on players and environments) tend to make the game depressing and grundgey. Only a few levels even contain color and even so they're just lights. The game is also drowns in bloom and distance fog. Sure, the bloom and fog give the game more realism, but they also hinder sight when playing the game. At one point a players screen can get so bright (due to power ups coloring the screen) that it makes it even more difficult to see anything." team fortress classic, counter strike, and cod4

I'm really trying to like UT3 but I just can't. It feels so incomplete and stripped. I reinstalled it a few days ago to give it another try and I still can't get used to it. Maybe the new "Titan Pack" with new game modes will make UT3 feel much better.
But as it stands, UT2K4 is still by far my favourite FPS. With so many mods and options, it still feels fresh after all these years. The main reason why it surpasses the original UT is because of the updates graphics, vehicles, and a whole lot more options and downloadable content available. -
When's this patch? I simply can't play the game because if the ping is over 40ms in any server, there's a huge delay on ALL weapons and driving vehicles that's completely unbearable. Try firing the sniper rifle with 100ms , or even 60ms latency in a UT3 server, you just can't do it because there's a fire delay of twice whatever your latency is which makes the game almost impossible to play online. Along with the fact that most of the servers are located in Europe, I get about 200-240ms in most populated ones and there's practially a half second delay between when you click the mouse and when the gun fires, it's rediculous, NONE of the other UT games had this issue. And playing with bots gets kind of boring, so the whole game fails because of this. -
TF2 + DODS + BF2142 = I play
BF2 is coming up
ps: anyone knows when will the next valve discount be
i want to get CS:S at 9.99 -
CS:S/TF2/L4D
BF2/BF2142
Quake Live (in beta testing at the moment) -
gary_hendricks Notebook Evangelist
however, i still think UT3 is the best..it combines better part of both..UT and UT2k4.
and about DoF/Bloom etc..just use world detail 1, and texture detail 5.
btw, Titan Pack will have detailed gfx settings like UT2k4 iirc -
gary_hendricks Notebook Evangelist
my wild guess is that in march.
btw, i play on LAN. 1ms FTW!! -
Crysis Wars ftw.

Favorite of all time: I have to say jedi knight.
Something about battling it out with lightsabers, and being able to jump 500 feet in the air really took FPS to a new level. It made the stages much more a part of the game, and stratagy was just as important as reflexes and accuracy.
Currently: Not playing one but the last one I was playing that I liked a lot was CoD4 but it wore off fast. I say the ones that stuck with me the most were BF2, BF2142 and Unreal Tournament 2004 -
Battlefield 2 by far. The mods are also great!
-
Left 4 Dead
Team Fortress 2
Half-Life 2 (I play the Synergy Mod)
F.E.A.R
Call of Duty: World at War (It's ok I guess, I miss CoD4 on the 360 though) -
All time: Quake
Current: TF2
Honorable Mention: CS/CS:S
What's your favorite multiplayer fps?
