Basically it's a desktop on a console shell. Is it worth the price or LOL steam machine?
-
The real question is, is the form factor and appearance more impressive than its specs and price?
Also, this should be in the OT desktop discussion thread. -
None of the steam machines impress me. Most people here who are even halfway tech savvy could put together a mITX system for probably less and just install the free-to-download SteamOS on it. Though that one comes with Windows.

steam machine in general is a joke.
all the disadvantages of pc and console all in one, and none of the advantages.killkenny1 likes this. -

Yeah, I don't really care for Steam machines. I would rather build a PC myself. Where's the fun in buying a prebuilt PC?
Also, is it me, or this whole Steam machine hype got really quiet. Don't hear about it much these days. -
Yeah, Valve probably doomed the whole project when it delayed the Steam Controller by a year.
-
And EVGA really dropped the ball on the 900 series, the only reason I'd go for EVGA this time around would be for their warranty and support. I know CyberPower doesn't allow you to choose another brand, but perhaps that's one more reason to not buy this Steam(ing pile of dog dung) machine.Sorry couldn't resist.

For $1500, what desktop would you recommend me that is small, with a 980gtx or better, with wifi and can plug to tv that is upgrade proof?

A bit OT but then so is the thread..
But didn't you just buy a 780m SLI AW18 to keep your AW R2 7970m CF company ? The performance of a mITX with a single 980 and an air cooled quad core isn't going to impress you or quench your apparent thirst for power.
Might as well set your machines apart performance wise and go mATX no?
If you really want a steam machine - Why not close the lid on your laptop, throw it under your TV, plug a HDMI into it and call it a day??
Don't take this the wrong way. You should do whatever your want.. . But doesn't having 3 machines all performing about the same seem like a missed opportunity?
What's your opinion on this Steam/Windows 8.1 console/PC machine?
