    im lookin at a laptop top with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 and i would like to know if it performs to the 8600m GT

    they are pretty close, but each card has a slower and faster variant, ddr2 and gddr3, respectively.

    gddr3 8600m gt > gddr3 hd 2600 > ddr2 8600m gt > ddr2 hd 2600

    well the first laptop is HD2600 GDDR2 and the second laptop (G1s) is 8600GT GDDR3 so the latter will be much faster.

    You might be able to fix the GPU stuttering with a driver update or send your laptop back to the manufacturer for a new one.
