typically 64mb dedicated will be better, But from the looks of it the nvidia card looks pretty old. The ati 200m is a pretty good IGP but a very low end overall gpu. Personally I would have to see the other specs of the machine and know what the intended use is before I would or could make a decision.

edit: Ok I mised the links stupid me.

From the looks of it the first one will be a little nicer, with the ability to upgrade to a decent AMD cpu. The other laptop has a netburst pentium 4 which is power hungry and may be a little quicker from the get go. But the 200m seems to be stronger too. Higher resolution too, and newer chipset. I used to have the 200m and rs chipset and it works great with a turion cpu. SO I would go for the first one if these are the only two laptops available to you.

depnding on what socket it has you can upgrade the sempron, if you so choose, to a more powerful cpu.

Anything with a Pentium 4 is not worth buying, especially a laptop.

hmm... I would say that for Sempron, P IV in desktop is OK, but probably it's not the right place for this conversation...

how come advent laptops arnt in any notebook reviews on this website and hardly any one talks about buying them ?

Does this website have a pet hate against them or are they so bad that are not worth mentioning.

    Im just wondering

    Thanks for any replies

But not in a laptop. A mobile Sempron will probably be a bit slower than that P4 he's looking at, and it will use MUCH less power, no matter what. As for value CPU's, you really can't beat the Sempron. The Sempron is also a 64bit processor.

I'd also go with the X200M. These low-end IGP graphics are really raising the bar ; its amazing that integrated graphics, such as the X200M and the nVidia GeForce 6100, are vista areo capable. Also, I also had a ATI X200M with an AMD CPU and they worked great together.

Sempron is NOT a 64bit processor, but just a crippled budget version of the Athlon 64, which is similar to the Celeron

as for Resonance question I've posted my opinion here

Go with the first laptop, the one with the Sempron and the x200

I've been around laptops a long time and I never heard of them. I'd question their reliability and customer service. Judging by those two machines they're selling out-dated hardware.

We mostly have user-written reviews; if no one owns an Advent (I have never heard of them until now even) or wants to do a review, then we don't post anything about them.

Doh. Teaches me to read. I'd still go with the Sempron, especially in a laptop. Ideally a Core Duo or so would be best, but if he's stuck with those two choices, the P4 will be a hot, flaky, battery-munching machine, and the Sempron will perform like a notebook should, just not at light-speed.

Well im not stuck with those 2 choices its just when i was looking around for laptops at £500 or less those 2 looked pretty good.

I have done another thread in the "what notebook should i buy" section and filled in the FAQ so if anyone want to look at that and give me some more option for laptops i could buy it would be greatly pleased
    heres the link

people have given a few but the advent still seams the best choice to me

    Thanks Resonance

    for Pitabred

    Please READ BEFORE POSTING !!!

NEVER HAVE I SAID that Pentium 4 is an option for notebook.
I've said that Sempron is too old CPU.

for the same price he can get Centrino Solo or even Duo instead of AMD's trash.

I don't want to see a flame war in here, but keep your comments opinionated so people are less inclined to fire back an equally repressive reply.

Great im in the middle of a shouting war :D

Anyway are the AMDs really that Trash as dreamer describes i always thought that amd make respectable processors so when i saw one in a laptop i was drawn to it, am i wrong to think that it was good ?

    no no war here

not but they are just OLD - slower, less battery life(1.5h) which is bad for MOBILE computer.

yes AMD make respectable processors but for desktop
