For BF2 I can definitely not an OS problem as I'm running the same version of 7 as you and installed it without issues.

Does it just get stuck or is there an error? At what file does it get stuck?

I'm thinking you should let it run. If the HD light is on, it probably is copying a big file.

make sure the headset/mic volume program has not crashed or is hidden waiting for your response.

Are you installing from a disc? Could be the discs are damaged and can't read the files to install.......

BF2 is rather picky about how clean the disc has to be. Special Forces wouldn't install for me when I had D-skins on it.

i dont want to hijack his thread but im having problems installing CS:S. I installed it months ago but it kept freezing while playing with bots. so thinking a uninstall reinstall was in order i did just that. Now i cant finishing installing it. I get this error.

source_sounds can not be installed because its not found in css3. Its says it could be from a network error, damaged disc or somthing about data packages.

Ive installed the game once and then put the disc back up so they are in great condition. It hangs on the 3rd disc btw.

Try downloading CS:S directly via Steam. It takes longer than using the disk, but it's not a huge game. That way you automatically get the most up to date version, and there's no corrupt files to worry about.

As strange as it sounds I was having an issue installing WOW one time and after doing alot of reading I found out the culprit was one of my sticks of ram. It was faulty and though I never noticed it in every day use when installing the game it would toss up some arbitrary error code. Ran a memory stress test on one stick then the other and tossed the messed up one out. No issues since then...
