Darksiders, picked it up for a fiver a while back on steam, worth every penny. Nothing in terms of plot really but a good old hack and slash.

Darksiders is a cross between Zelda & Devil May Cry.

Think the dungeons & puzzle solving of Zelda with the combat system of Devil May Cry.

DMC3/4 generally are the best of the series.

The game is 100% meant to be played with an Xbox controller, Darksiders seems to play just fine on KB/M.

DMC4 is one of the best optimized "console ports" I've ever played. Apparently, God bless Capcom, they design all their games on a PC first and them port them to the various consoles. It very much shows in this game as it runs very very well.

Personally, I did enjoy Darksiders quite a bit, but DMC4 is a visually impressive game as well.

Devil may cry is better than Darksider!!!

More action (DMC4) than puzzling over and over and over (Darksider)

More assorted monsters in DMC 3/4 than recolored monster in Darksiders.

They are both good but if you are going to compare them, I'll go DMC!!!!

    Both playable.

Thanks for the input.. Definately gonna keep an eye out for a darksiders sale on steam, as well as DMC4, I have an xbox controller so controls shouldn't be an issue. First on sale on steam wins!

I would vote for Prototype. Although the plot of the game is in modern world, it's a typical hack'n'slash. The amount of mayhem in this game is absolutely unbelievable. There are plenty of gameplay videos on YT, so You can see for Yourself, whether You like it or not.

Prototype and darksiders. Have played and beat both of them twice.
    I prefer prototype.

It was smooth on medium settings on my previous laptop with P8400/4GB RAM/9600M GT@1280x800.
On my current lappy I can run it maxed out (1680x1050 4xAA max details).

Prototype has a bug where it will play with really poor performance on any system if they have certain HID's in use.

Edit: Don't forget that with a fast enough processor, you can emulate GOW at around 40-60 fps. I am curious to see how fast it runs with the new SB processors as well.

Not a bad choice per se, my only complain with the game is the final boss, the game simply never made an effort to prepare you for such kind of obscene difficult (normal difficulty and before asking... yes, with a gamepad). Other than that I think its a very nice hack-n-slash.

Edit: and I can max it out with my current laptop.

That last boss was nothing to write home about imho... But then I had maxed out everything before I got to that point.

Prototype is a bad port, actually, but plays fairly well on my system.

And its a very fun, hack'n'slash, gorefest game...

Prototype was fun for me at first, but it was pretty boring for me by the end, I almost did not finish it.

Darksiders kept me going much more till the end since it has dungeons and stuff to explore and treasure hunting. So it gave a lot more RPG aspects to what otherwise would be just a hack n' slash game.

I think I prefer good ol' Devil May Cry games more than Prototype actually when I look back. That may be just due to the music and environments and stuff.

I didn't even think the last boss was the hardest in the game... I beat the whole thing fairly quickly with keyboard/mouse. I might have to invest in a controller someday.
