Hey iv seen the new HP 15inch laptops that have the geforce 7200 in them and i have a couple of questions regarding that gpu...

How much dedicated memory do they have?
How would it compare to the 7300? Does it use the same core as the 7300 and just have have less dedicated mem and slower clock speeds..OR.. is it based on the older 6200 core??

And how would it handle new games?..not games as demanding as Oblivion but other slightly less demanding ones such as FEAR...?

I dont think they have any dedicated.

Its not a decent card, i would recommend at least a 7400 to play F.E.A.R. and such confortably! :)

    The dv2000t with the "128MB Go7200" has 32MB dedicated + 96MB shared, and the dv6000z with the "256MB Go7200" has 64MB dedicated + 192MB shared.

It's not a very good card for games, but certainly better than a Radeon Xpress 200M or Go6150. Low-res, low-settings for newer games, old ones should be okay, depends on the game.

Thanks Chaz.. I thought it would have had at least 32mb to distinguish itself from the 6150.. But could you tell me what core the 7200 is based on? Is it an underclocked 7300 core?

I believe it is an underclocked Go7300, it has the same number of pixel & vertex engines.

I would love to see how it does perform on FEAR. My 7400 disappointed me in FEAR - I know its not a great card but I can run at 70FPS on low settings, but as soon as I switch literally anything on - even medium textures instead of low - it plummets to about 10fps. Most strange...

How is the possible? Iv played FEAR on my mates Sony FE laptop that has the 7400 and was able to play at 800x600 with everything turned up to Med-High and it was staying above 35fps at all times and was very smooth!. The 7400 isnt a bad card at all and should be well able for FEAR

Strangely, I was getting about 15fps on 800x600, textures medium, effects medium, shadows on and medium, volumetric lighting on, most other options low.

Turning off just shadows by itself shot the fps back up to a steady 40fps - I find it hard to believe shadows alone make that much of a difference but FEAR still looks nice without them...bit happier now with how its running on my 7400.

Yeah sure it still looks amazing without shadows and its great if you can play it at 40fps+ by just turning them off..
