When will be able to see the ATI Mobility HD 4870 GDDR5 in laptops? Who will be the first? Alienware? Asus? MSI? OCZ? Sager/Clevo?

    Hopefully Alienware M17/Flextronics W840-DI.

ASUS could catch serious flak from existing owners if they started putting 4870s with GDDR5 into the W90 so I wouldn't be surprised if they never do.

Or mislabeled 4850s with an extra 50Mhz on the core clock depending on how cynical your outlook on things are.

Asus won't care if they drop GDDR5 on it later...
They proved that once before with G50VT.

Agreed. I don't think Asus should label it as a 4870x2 when it is exactly what you said. They're not *true* 4870s as far as I have read in the owner's lounge...not to mention the "lock-up" problem that seems to be plaguing the laptop.
