So, since I'm a bit strapped for cash and I don't /need/ a laptop immediately, I was wondering when to expect laptops with the new GTS 150M/160M to start popping up (Maybe even the GT 130M). I'm hoping when they come out, they will either be of a really attractive price or at the very least push the current laptops down in price. I would really like a laptop with a GTS 150M but getting a good deal on a current generation laptop would be great as well!

Well, I'm not holding my breathe about an attractive price (even though technically the GTS series is supposed to replace the 9700M GTS through 9800M GTS which all were in pretty well priced laptops). However, with the way the economy is, maybe they'll take one for the team to get more people being able to afford them.

Edit: I notice they are essentially a rebadge; however, I am hoping the GTS 150M will have a good price to go along with it (your chart shows the GTS 160M matching up with the 9800M GS). Also, if I understand correctly, they are also a dieshrink which would make them run cooler and should make them cheaper to produce.

They are not cheaper to produce when you don't get good yields for the first batch.

Hmm, they didn't get good yields for the first batch? Can you link me to more info? Thanks.

The prices will be attractive, as Nvidia is dropping prices on these new chips to compete with ATi.

Case in point: the 280M is available in a notebook for just under $1700, and the chip is probably close to $300 cheaper than the 9800M GTX.

Probably Asus and Clevo in 15.4" models.

That's somewhat a shame to me. I was hoping HP would come out with a laptop with the GTS 150M/160M. Clevo is pretty nice though but they haven't announced anything with the GTS 150M/160M yet... still I like HP more. As far as ASUS goes, if they offer it in a new update to their G50 series but don't fix the quirks with them then its still a no-go for me.

Are you sure about that? Where did you get the $300 figure?

Im not doubting you, but Cizmo (sager/clevo reseller) have the GTX280M already for order and it is €10 more than the 9800M GTX. (ie you might as well say the same price)

They also have the GTX260M and it is €120 more than the 9800M GTS.

Hmm, well, Sager has the 5797 with the GTX 280M as standard at $1692 US. On Powernotebooks, the 9800M GTX is actually $265 more than the GTX 280M, so that's where I got my "close to $300" estimate.

Fair enough, that is great news if it is correct. Like I said, I wasnt doubting you, just more familiar with the Euro retailers websites than US :)
