Okay. With DX10 on the move... when is the best time to get a laptop with the highest DX10 graphics card on the market? Estimated time would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you always spend your time waiting to get new technology you will never buy a computer I currently have the second best DX10 card on the market the 8600m GS Until the 8700m comes out But thats the computer world

They are always going to be coming out with better and better graphics cards, so even if you buy the best one available, there will soon be better ones. When I got my x1600, I thought it was the Sh**, and now it's complete garbage compared to what's out now.

LOL. I need to wait until Dec. for a laptop anyways. I'll see whats out. So, will Crysis work on a DX10 card like the best ones out now (8600GS)?

Crysis should work pretty well on the 8600GS.

Awesome. Maybe I shouldn't worry so much about it. I know this is a bit off topic, but...

Would carrying a laptop like the Asus C90s around during college be too hard (with battery power aspects and such)?

Theres never a perfect time u'll just have to accept it and move on with your life. Seriously, just get the best spec for your money at the time you need it and you can't have any regrets. If you dont NEED to get one then just wait, but im assuming you need it for uni or college maybe?

Why are people bothering with the GS, if you want a gaming laptop get at least 8600gt.

If you get crysis working on your machine you'll pretty much be able to handle most games for a good while, thats the only game im looking forward to playing, im just hoping an 8600m gt (512mb ddr2) will handle it.

    i agree with Gi1b0..

there really ISN'T a perfect time for you to buy a laptop.

consider this. i just recently bought a new laptop about a month ago. when it was being shipped i heard about the new alienware. yeah, the one with the dual 512 nvidia graphics cards. i was pissed because it was sooo much cheaper than the xps 1710.

    but thats life.

Your best bet is to order online and then wait the weeks for them to ship and if by that time nothing better comes out... take what u have and run with it. Other wise cancel the order and place a new one.

    Its almost like a lottery.

My only sugestion is dont buy the uber-awesome-highest-end-gfx-card-available-to-man card because ull blow $700 on the card alone and in 2 months a new one will come out and that one will cost $200.

Buy a card, Buy your games, and stick with them. I bought a ati radion 7500 back in 2002 and i bought like 3 games for it. I still use it with just those games.
If you wanna play new games (like me) buy a new laptop in 3-4 years, its realy what im doing.
