Sometimes I'm a little puzzled if I should change or not. Currently I have the 6.3 drivers, and they doesn't give me any troubles yet.
I know (as a little geek) that I should change them as often as they are released to stay up-to-date, but then again, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' I have learned through the years
When do You reinstall/update drivers and why?
PS. I remember some years ago, were the Nvidia drivers gave a huge jump in performance, and that was a perfectly good reason to reinstall. But today/and then it's mainly small improvements, and my x600 is likely to gain nothing at all. The only reason as I see it is to make sure to play a new game or?

Some drivers have fixes for certain games. I remember ATI had a driver that fixed some problems with BF2 and Counter Strike.
I personally don't see an improvement buy I also don't check my 3Dmark scores either. LOL

Well i guess is not super important to do it, but maybe it has some bugs fixes as tim says even i fyou dont see a huge boost in performance. 3dmarks score fo diferent versions of omega only have a 25-30 marks diference between them, but maybe some fixes that they include could make the game thet is giving you trouble work just fine. If you can upgrade i think is better to do it.

i only update my drivers when i have a problem with a certin game....if i have no problems then i dont update

Whenever a new one comes out, I install it, 3d mark it, tweak it, 3d mark it. I repeat this several times to see if it really makes any difference. I usually end up keeping new drivers.

I install all latest drivers to be updated

I am currently using the Omega 6.3 drivers; anything above 6.3 I have not been able to get working with ATI Tray Tools.

Quite often since I beta test them

so then how does the new catalyst mobility drivers compare to the omega drivers in terms of performance?

I have to live with the fact that my lappy has limited gamelife, and that I have to convince my wife that I'm in a few years - max. 2, needs a new lappy
