Currently it seems that it's lacking from all the 7 drivers i've seen so far. Powermizer helps keep the extremely warm nvidia gpus cool by well doing what it does reducing clock speeds when it's idling. So when will 7 get them as part of it's set? Does anyone know?

i'm on 7 RTM x64 pro. It's not even an option in the control panel. The drivers from nvidia have no option when using Dox they seem to work. I found it wasn't there when the temps went up a bit higher than they should be idling. I checked for the powermiser registry setting and nothing so powermiser is most definately not in x64 7 with the 19x and 186 Dox optmized well that has it supposedly somehwhere it's doing a bit better but not as good as the old ones...
On vista gpu idle temps setting on a flat surface were ~44*C, now with 7 and dox it's ~53*C. Without Dox ~63*C. So it's atleast doing some work just not as much as the true powermiser did do.

My 8800m GTS freely goes to four different states from 200/400/100 to 600/900/1400 MHz (core/memory/shader) clocks on Windows 7 RC x86 (build 7100).

Edit: I use the official nVidia 186.81 drivers.

yeah what's your driver version? And mine's on 7x64 RTM i need someone else to come on here and tell me they're getting something similar with both dox and 191.xx drivers, plus the 185.86(or whatever it is that is gained form windows update)

Firstly, Powermizer was never a Nvidia control panel option in Vista, so I don't think it will ever be an option in Windows 7.
The later drivers don't seem to have the powermizer settings in the registry, I think they are doing it via the drivers themselves. Mine changes frequency automatically but when I check for the powermizer setting in the registry there is nothing there. (I'm using 186.81 from nvidia). Try the powermizer enable program that was posted here a while ago. That will put the settings back in the registry for you. Hmmm i'll try that one app since it's still running hotter than it should...

Did you also notice an increase of temps by ~9*C?

Powermizer works perfectly for me on Windows 7 X64 with official Nvidia drivers 186.81 (43-45C idle GPU temps). When I tested out the official 186.82, Powermizer wasn't working correctly and I had higher idle temps as a result.

Since the 191.XX drivers are desktop modified ones, I would expect unpredictable behavior though, I never trust those ones.

PowerMizer is just an Hardware technology which will be activated with Forceware as well as Registry Entries.
So, Nvidia Forceware already support Windows 7. Thus, PowerMizer will work on Windows 7.

Yeah. Powermiser isn't working for me on Win7 Home Premium and 186.82 - idle temps are 60 according to GPUZ, which isn't suprising because my 9800m GT isn't downclocking at all. Powermiser was working with Win7 Ultimate RC1 and 186.xx. Any ideas what I can do?

I have the power options in Control panel set to 'Performance' - could this be overriding powermiser?

I ran Powermizer Switch and all is fine now.
