    Where can you buy mobile GPU's ?

    i looked at the nvidia site and in the "shop" they dont have any of the mobile graphics cards listed... where can i buy these, if they are at all possible to buy separately from a new notebook.

    You can buy mobile GPU's from your reseller. I.e. Dell, HP, Sager, etc. 99.999999% of the time even if they are using a 'standard' i.e. MXM they are not compatable and cannot be switched out.

    Out of curiosity, what are you gonna do with that GPU?

    You have the highest option, but you can always downgrade to the 8400M GS... :p

    No, it's not. It's replaceable but only with Dell options, and they offer only two at the moment.

    You can look on Ebay, MXM-Upgrade, and shop around from OEM's, many will sell modular mobile graphics cards as spare parts.

    ahh, so i cant upgrade to an 8800M GTX in my 1720 you say?

    and yes, the insp. 1720 is one of the lucky few that can have the GPU's switched.

    You will have to wait and see if Dell decides to offer an 8800M for that motherboard. It's quite possible that they will offer at least a -GTS eventually.
