I haven't played games for the last few years, I just wanted to know what the best FPS is at the moment? I hear a lot about Cysis which apparently runs ok on the P7811. Has anyone played the new warhead version?

Get Call of Duty 4. Single player not bad but multiplayer will enslave you. At first you won't really like it cause you'll be dying left and right. There's a learning curve but once you master the mechanics and you're married your wife will divorce you.

Crysis has great graphics but the gameplay/plot/sounds are just horrible. as cod4 is already mentioned, you should also get bioshock.

The recently released Crysis Warhead is supposedly better than its predecessor in gameplay and performance (the latter is debatable).

yeh I played COD4 on a friends xbox, seemed a bit linear. I prefer the more open-world, go where you want, attack from your own angle kind of gameplay. Anyone know why warhead is cheaper then the original crysis? at least in best buy.

Warhead is cheaper because it's really just a complete expansion to the original Crysis, not a completely different game.

    Coming from a 7811FX owner:

COD4: 1920x1200 looks sweet, average 30-60 FPS, lowest dip was in the 20's
Crysis: Didn't have much replay value for me, but looks sweet!
Gears of War: 1920x1200 looks sweet, average 40+ FPS in 1920x1200

COD4 is great and stable at 1920x1200 on 7811FX. Don't judge by the single player game, which is short and more linear. This is a huge online favorite, and games like this are ten times better online.

Bioshock and Crysis both have SecuROM DRM, FYI. Personally, I wouldn't want that on any computer, much less a new one.

Here's a list of all games with SecuROM, not counting Crysis Warhead, which is just coming out:

I touch Crysis until you play Call of Duty 4.

Call of Duty 4 is the best 'fps' to date, the multiplayer is simply just the best, the singleplayer makes you smile at a lot of points, which is good. :)

ok, yeh I was aware of the SecuROM issue, that sucks. I guess COD4 wins it for me, I'm more into the realistic games anyway.

COD4 isn't the best FPS, crysis is actually a great game, so is BIOSHOCK, and COD4 is pretty increadible. The single player in COD4 gives you a great experience, while at the same time throws some morals at you, in a good way. It's very fun, but yes, very linear, and somewhat short. Don't let the linearity turn you away from the single player though, it's linear, yes, but it keeps the action at a fast pace, throughout the entire game you'll probebly never feel like the game is repetitive or boring, since it changes up the gameplay style and enviornment with every level.

COD4's multiplayer is frantic and fast paced, much like counter strike, there will be people constantly firing weapons, explosions going off, hearing the whizz of bullets travelling right near your head, it can get intense. There are also servers on the PC version that run custom maps and mods that will auto download when you join them. Some servers can run custom game modes such as Zombies vs humans, gungame, paintball, tactical mods, etc.. There's something for every FPS gamer really.

Securom is a real pain, since BIOSHOCK and buying Trials 2, I won't buy anything that has an install limit on it. Trials 2 only allows 3 installs before you have to email tech support to get the limit reset, I installed the game last friday, activation failed, I emailed tech support, didn't get my key reset til monday since they aren't open on weekends, this is exactly the kind of reason why I hate this crap. Same thing with bioshock, I had to email them as well to install, didn't get a response and reset until about 20 hours later. Atop that you have to give them all of your personal information to get it reset, it's an intrusion imho.
