So I am trying to play my older favorite genres in gaming that I ahven't touched in a while.
My last RTS is WC3 or was it the 1st Rise of Nations?

Because I am out of the loop, I am ondering what is a good RTS no?
I was debating btween the Star Wars: Empire at War or the Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends

Does anyone here that has played both games have any suggestions/comments about which 1 is a better buy?
Or any other suggestions on a good RTS to get?

I personally loved Battle for Middle Earth, a cool feature is not levels for heros (they have that too), but levels for units... as a unit kills mroe nemies it gains in level and becomes stronger, so a level 10 Uruk horde will decimate 5 level 1 Soldiers of Gondor....

    Pretty sweet IMO

Empire at War is a great game but its pretty tough on the graphics card, and the unit AI can be really stupid at times. I still recomend it though.

I'd also like to make the suggestion of Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War. I love that game. Greatest thing to happen to the RTS genre since StarCraft IMHO.

DOW WA is great but mayhaps one should wait till the new exp. comes out. I would recommend DOW for a base though.

StarWars Empire at War I think was a total dissapointing game. I did however loved the space battles, but they got boring really quick. I haven't played the Rise of Nation game. I agree with jaiste, Battle for Middle Earth I and II are good.

I was also going to recommend Dawn of war... it's great if you're a Warhammer 40k nut, but gameplay wise, I'll have to admit I've been bored, and unimpressed by the strategic aspects.

Battle for Middle Earth I + II are really the best two out for overall experience.
