I'm still looking at notebooks. I decided to pass up buying an E1705 w/7900GS because I don't want a 17" notebook. I prefer 15.4" and 14.1" (preferebly the latter)

    I have found 15.4" with a GeForce 7600 (but it's a Turion X2 and not C2D), a 15.4" C2D with Radeon X1700, and a 14.1" with a GeForce 7700.

*Most* of what I will be using it for is med school. I am also working on coding a practice examination engine. I occasionally play games, unfortunately I like FPS games so the GPU would need to be able to respectively handle 3D stuff.

I have seen the benchmarks and they're really close. I'm not sure which card to base my purchase off of; I am sure the 7700 is better, but it's also almost $500 more than the others and probably not worth quite that much for the added performance.

Waiting for the 8x00 cards isn't an option. They'll be overpriced anyway.

I'd still think the 14.1" is better. For $500 you get the better GPU, plus the 14.1" is more portable than the 15.4". So you're paying for more than the extra GPU power.

Depends...if you don't need the extra portability though, you might be better off with the 15.4" C2D w/ X1700.

Bottom line is that all three cards are really good performers, and all will give you decent settings for some time.
