I ordered a new HP dv7t (specs in my sig) and it has a 512MB nvidia card. I am wondering what games I should get which will look flawless on my new machine. it will be running vist home, 64bit.
I liked unreal 1 and I ordered unreal 3 - I will not be playing online. What other games will give me eye candy?
and please do not suggest online / multi-user games. It makes no sense paying a monthly fee to simply relax and have fun. :: rolling eyes ::
I am up for any 1st-person shooters - doom 3, unreal. or any car racing games.
thank you guys in advance,

thanks for the reply, guys. i'll look into crysis. i hope it's not online only!
anything in the racing category? -
Oblivion, when outfitted with graphics enhacing modifications, can WOW you as well.
Crysis has an offline main game, and Oblivion is all off line. -
assassin's creed look really good
-
GRID for racing games.
Devil May Cry 4 for action games.
Crysis for shooter games.
Assassins Creed for adventure games. -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Crysis
Bioshock
COD 4
Orange Box (with cinematic mod)
Assassin's Creed
Don't expect to max out Crysis on your machine. -
gears of war is good looking on pc once you fix the bugs but yes crysis has the best graphics. Call of duty 4 also has great graphics!
-
you dont have to pay online fees for most games unless youre talking about paying for the internet itself.
-
Second for Call of Duty 4... Runs great and looks better than Crysis on my machine (Cause it runs better at high settings). The new Unreal Engine driven games look great and can be easily maxed out at a decent resolution.
-
just if only COD4 had a better sky ..
-
don't get COD4 for singleplayer
the campaign is amazing and intense, but it's over really quickly--the rest is multiplayer -

i dont understand. you don't like any online games or just paying subscription fees?
most games do not have fees... -

^ just paying the subscription fees, ie, everquest. i love network play - i'm actually going to be bringing this thing to my friends place often to kick his a$$ in unreal ;-D
- tsd -
Crysis Warhead. Soon.
-
timesquaredesi MagicPeople VooDooPeople
^ i saw that for preorder on amazon.com for $28.99 . is this an upgrade for crysis or the full version?
If it's the entire version, then i'm buying it! ;]
i have grid and crysis in my cart right now. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
k i thought you said you were buying ut3 but weren't going to play online?!
definitely jump on CoD4 and the orange box. highly recommend buying games through steam- never have to hunt for patches, keep discs, worry about losing the key... -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing

thanks dude. im adding this to the list then.

Tf2 actually uses a pretty demanding graphics engine, but it looks like it has crappy graphics tho, gave me a bad impression at first

With your setup, I think you should run Mass Effect. The story is great, and the action is intense. And how well it looks with ultra high settings is really amazing.
im running the game under max settings using a bit of overclocking with the 8600gt ddr3. So if you decide to get the game you might need to consider Overclocking to push the game play and graphical eye candy to its limits.
The thing is, are you up for a shooting rpg? -
I have a 256MB DDR2 8600M GT oveclocked and I have Crysis and COD 4. In my opinion COD 4 is a much better game and the graphics are amazing as well as the motion of the players. Crysis is eye candy if your machine can handle it. I can run mine in full resolution (1280x800) in most High, a few in medium settings, in DX9 at around 24fps but still it's not as beautiful as COD4 (which I can run at max settings everything without AA or AF, around 30fps-60fps, online is a bit lower but still great). I haven't finished the single player missions in COD4 because I am hooked with the multiplayer  . On the other hand, I have finished the Crysis campaign because I had too, just to see how it's ending. Intersesting story but I was bored. Multiplayer is awful as I had to put everything in low settings and resolution and still not a good experience and not many people in the servers. Crysis warhead probably is going to be the same so I wouldn't buy if I were you. Other beautiful games are Unreal 3, which I could run the demo at max settings without a problem, Grid and Dirt, which I could run the demos in medium settings and Oblivion (max settings and if you apply the mods, is a really eye candy). But I still play COD 4, best game ever
I think I am addicted to COD 4
LET'S DO THIS MARINES.... -
Far Cry is also a great game. Make sure you buy the original. Beautiful tropical graphics and challenging. made by CryTek same makers of Crysis. IMHO Far Cry is one of the games that started it all... over 3 years ago it was amazing and set a new standard for PC games

here is some info about crysis.... just read overview...
also I love Guild Wars there 3 different games Prophecies Factions Nightfall and 1 expansion Eye of The North. free online play and the graphics are way better than WOW especially in prophecies during pre-searing.
I'm currently playing oblivion its great and graphics are wonderful.
i think orange box has hl2 along with episode 1 and 2 and a few others.
half life 2 "hl2" has great graphics and wonderful story line but the movements in game kinda suck. -
Also if you want anymore information feel free to ask about games. cus I didn't talk much about Guild Wars but i have pleyed it for about 3 years. Also you can't forget about Sims 2 it is always fun.

Oblivion with all boostin' mods like natural environments, QTP3 redimized, Grass without Tiling and Better_Nightsky. It's still looks awesome after all those years
... and Bioshock rox as well - of course. -
For car racing, try Trackmania Nations. It's entirely free (don't even have to pay to buy a license, let alone online fees), and looks brilliant. It'll use all the power on your 9600M GT, and it'll deliver really good graphics on that power.
-
And it still looks and plays great to me. T'would be cool if someone remade Far Cry with Crysis' editor. -
BenLeonheart walk in see this wat do?
Try:
- Mass Effect
- Oblivion (with graphics mods)
- Crysis
- COD4
- GRID (gets boring after you beat it... IMO, but is graphically amazing)
- UT99, UT2k3, UT2k4, UT3 (for LAN play n,n)
- HL2
- Bioshock
- Assassin's Creed
There are more graphically "inferior" games, but can also deliver an excellent experience with LAN play, but we all know you want to show off your 9600m GT... xD -

Everyone keeps mentioning Crysis here, so forgive me for pissing in your Wheaties but...I run it pretty much maxed on my Radeon HD 4870 in my desktop. In DX9 mode, modified to run almost everything at "Very High," and 1920x1200, and it really isn't that exciting.
The most stunning game I've played recently is Assassin's Creed. I'll second the mentions of a modded-out Oblivion, and while Mass Effect never totally blows me away visually, it's VERY solid.
Bioshock, by the way, is also a gorgeous game. I also thought Timeshift was a reasonably good looking game, and Tomb Raider: Legend and Anniversary are both beautiful games, too. -
Flight Simulator X
Race Driver Grid
FIFA 08? -
oblivion is cool, but i found guild wars to be the most visually pleasing. not because it looks super amazing, even though it does look great, but because of the environment, the feel is just awesome.

Avoid Crysis like the plague.. Its a deceiving little B*****d of a game. No doubt its got some of the most impressive graphics to date, but trust me on this, until we have machines that will make it run at a flawless fps in high settings, at the highest resolution, it will only make you obsessed and you'll find yourself becoming just like me, asking all sorts of stupid questions as to why my system doesn't run it properly, when games like COD 4 totally maxed out runs like a dream, in my opinion. The same can be said for any other game.. besides Crysis.. Just try any thing besides from Crysis.. If you really have to try it. I warn you, its just like crack, in a graphical sense, as your brain try s to struggle with the eye candy that's being streamed into the back of your head.... You just keep going to see how awesome everything looks, just wishing the **** game, as good as it looks didn't run so choppy like, while at the same time putting your system on the verge of a total melt down. But you find yourself coming back for more, just one more hit like...

I would have to vote for COD4 as well, I was actually avoiding this game for awhile thinking it was another fps but once I started I was glued to the screen. The graphics are pretty easy to top out and despite the short campaign, it's definitely worth it. I thought it very intense.
Assassin's Creed is also a good choice, a little repetitive but the visuals and the story kept me entertained till the end. -
Assassins Creed and COD4 both have crap graphics compared to other games. Same with Mass Effect.
They are really fun but the graphics are not that great when maxed out.
Crysis with Cuban's modded system.cfg is the best looking game by far.
But to be honest i hate Crysis gameplay and always fall back to playing Mass Effect, rainbow six vegas 2, and cod 4.
EDIT: With laptops id say everyone is right COD4, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, R6Vegas 2, Bioshock, Grid, Hl2 and episode 1 and 2 are the best looking games. -

You'll have to trust me when I say it's better looking than Crysis.
