Which games that you have experience any issue when run on Vista 64-bit? What about old games from 8 years ago like Red Faction, Tropico, Fast Food Tycoon 2, Max Panye, etc?
I just want share with experience and make decision to install 32 bit or 64 bit of Vista.

I haven't had any problems with the games on my Steam list;
Crysis Warhead, all Half-life and related Source stuff, L4D etc. Most games will work. I don't know of any that just plain don't. -
I have only one game that I can't play on post-Win98 machine and that's Independance War (a sci-fi space sim classic).
I have successfully installed and played older titles on Vista64 such as Bladerunner, Starcraft, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, System Shock 2, etc. -
Nothing I've played that has been released in the last several years has given me any trouble. How old is Battlefield 1942? It runs fine.
-
I've had no issues on 64bit

Only game I had problems with was Half Life 2, but that was before I found the really simple fix for it. Works fine now.
-
Ok, gotta ask.... what was the problem and what was the really simple fix?
-
It would be stuck on the loading screen, with "64-bit mode enabled" in the corner. The simple fix was to right click on it on Steam, go to "Launch Options," and type in "-32bits" (including the quotations), but I think they recently fixed it in a Steam update.

cool, thanks for the info
-
No problem. Hopefully that information saves people some hair that I lost ) :

It seems the KOTOR series might have problems with 64-bit Vista if the reported number of problems on x86 Vista is anything to go by. I can't verify this for myself personally though.
Of course any game that worked on a 16-bit environment is a no-go on x64 Vista. -

I cant get Warcraft 1 or Warcraft 2 to work on x64, but as the games are over a decade old thats kinda to be expected... i really wanted to play warcraft 2 again though

The only games which didn't run for me were Scarface: The World is Yours and Brothers in Arms:Earned in Blood which are incompatible with Vista.
-
Did you try running it in Windows XP or 98 compatibility mode by chance?
-
It can be fixed by follow the guide via link.

Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood can be fixed by use compatibility mode as XP, have you tried it? -
Brothers in Arms won't work on Vista?
I was about to install it this week... anyone made it work under 32 bit Vista? -
Hahah I had the same Warcraft 2 craving a few weeks ago, just install dosbox my friend and WC2 will run like a charm, be warned though the graphics aren't the same as you may imagine them
Command and Conquer 3 doesn't work on Vista 64 bit -

I honestly cant remember i think i did, but i cant say for sure. I originally installed those games on a windows 3.1 machine so like i said i didnt expect it to really work, but i had to try
Dosbox huh... i'll have to try that. Because WC2 rocked! And had the best graphics of any game released to that day (though nostalgic can get you disappointed alot i guess
)
Wonder if the game will know what to do with a 3gHz dual core and an 8800GTS or will it run at 94000 frames a second
-
I tried that method and countless others 2 years back. It only works with some ATI cards and not with NVIDIA. With NVIDIA cards, the game will start, but there won't be any textures at all. The initial scene where Tony Montana has to escape his mansion is unplayable on NVIDIA card powered systems with Vista installed thereby rendering your further progress impossible.
Regarding, Brothers in Arms, even in XP or 2000 compatibility mode, the installer hangs on for more than an hour without progressing. -
final fantasy 8 cause everytime you exit the game it completely moves your desktop all around..lol

Duke Nukem 3D gave me a BSOD.
