I have two options to get either a Dell XPS 1530 or a Precision M4400 notebook through my business employer. For the most part, all the specs are pretty much the same except for the gpu's. (The XPS does however come with a Blue Ray dvd reader while the Precision only comes with a standard dvd reader.)
Since I enjoy playing simulation games that are more gpu intensive (which is really the main dilema here), would I be better off with the Nvidia quadro FX770m gpu? My understanding is that the FX770m gpu is based on the better 9600gt, but I'm unsure on whether the FX770m can be play games equally well?
Also, will I have problems trying to update the drivers for the FX770m gpu? I am not sure if the standard drivers from the laptopvideo2go site could be used?
I would be greatful for any suggestions or comments on which gpu would be best for gaming!
Best regards.

It can play games fine, and I think you might actually be able to use 9600M GT drivers on it, I would definitely get it over the 8600gt

the FX770 has some insane overclocking possibilities you can hit up to 8000 3dmark with a 770 and 8600 would blow up before it reached that lol
people who game are claiming awesome results -
Please please PLEASE take the Precision. That's the "top quality" laptop from Dell, the best build quality you can get from them. XPS is a consumer laptop, meaning that they aim for good Quality/Price ratio, while in Precision they aim for good Quality, period. And since you won't be paying...
EDIT - that's three people advising you for the Precision -

+1 for Precision.

I'm currently using the FX770 for gaming on a HP 8530W, and the performance is wonderful. It is much faster then 9600GT DDR2 in HP Pavilion (I had a dv7 for a while).
Probably because of DDR3 and a 120W power adapter.
I recommend using driver 179.28 from laptopvideo2go (most stable, never crashed). -

Thanks for the input guys. I guess I'll take a closer look at the Precision.

- "if he really wants to game, he should get a high-end card."...
I would love to go with a higher end gpu gaming notebook, but my employer for some reason isn't willing to go for that idea. My other limitation is that because of a lot of international travel, I need to buy from Dell business for their international warranty. (This illiminates the Dell Studio XPS 16 which is only sold under the "home" division.) -
770M of course.
That thing is a beast. It scores way higher than my 9700M GT with a small overclock. -
- "He was talking about simulation games, I don't think he meant crysis or gta4"...
No I don't play crysis or gta4. I do however play Microsoft Flight Simulator and Silent Hunter 4 (sub sim) games which are still pretty taxing on gpu's. I am hoping that the 770m will be able to handle these on medium settings without downclocking from overheating. -
I've to agree, nothing should be taken as an excuse to risk your card especially when its not as easy to replace as your ram.
You can however when you're extremely sure what you're doing and you know what the consequences are like.
And yea, +1 for the Precision in this case. -
I think the 770M could play both of those maxed.

Which gpu should I get? (An FX770m or an 8600gt?)
