What is better for gaming, a WXGA+ screen, or a WUXGA screen?

The graphics card I'm getting is the Go 7900gs so I won't be able to run in native resolution anyway, at least not with upcoming games such as Crysis or Bioshock.

If I heard correctly, the further away from native resolution you are, the more blurry it gets. So if I were to run Oblivion at 1024x640, it would be more blurry on the WUXGA right?

But wouldn't the extra pixels on the WUGXA screen reduce the blurriness somewhat?

Exactly. It will be perfectly possible to play crysis on a geforce(go) 7 card. The only thing that will not be possible is to have the extra special effects that directx 10 cards enable.

What I meant in my original post is, would a 1024x640 resolution look better on a WXGA+ or a WUXGA?

It's further away from the native resolution of the WUGXA, so it would be more blurry right?

I'm hoping that the higher quality+brightness of the WUGXA would make up for this somewhat.

What is your budget? Why don't you try Dell and Apple screens? Good value for money

Why not go to 1280X800 I mean, that is a GREAT RES!!!! and with a 17 Ince laptop it can go to 1280X1024 (Dell Inspiron E1705) It is really how well you want to see your screen, and how long you want your battery to last.

The higher the screen res, the graphic card needs to work harder.
Go with the WXGA but if you can, get WSXGA+
    Resolution: WXGA < WSXGA+ < WUXGA

Well if you can run the game in a window then you can run any resolution you want without a soft image (albeit in a smaller size).

I prefer 1920x1200, but only because I work with graphics and photographs a lot and the higher resolution affords me more real estate on the desktop to work with. Also I can watch higher definition video (1920x1200 is pretty much equivalent to 1080i/p but in 16:10 format).

For gaming, however, I can see how you'd want to play games full screen and at native resolution. 1440x900 would tax your GPU a LOT less and therefore you could crank up some of the effects.

Thanks a lot for the help guys, I'm going with the WXGA+ with Truelife.

(Since I'm mainly using it for games)
