Besides the Asus W90VP and the Alienware M17x?

Thanks! I can't wait for the 5870 to come out!

Those are the only laptops I can think of off the top of my head that contain the 4870's...

I mean, is the HD4870 really that powerful that it's rare to find it in more laptops?

I'm betting its the cost/heat factor that is keeping it out of most laptops.

Its just an overclocked 4850, so nothing too special about it really, but theres not way they could cool a GDDR5 version of that card in a laptop. I realize it would be a fraction of the power of the desktop version, but with a dual slot cooler, and a very good heatsink design, my card has to have the fan sitting around 33% to keep it at 45-50c. Any thing above that and it starts to sound like a jet. Very, very hot card, I wish them good luck introducing it into laptops, I hope they prove me wrong though.

On topic those are the only two I can think of.

Well, if I go into CCC and set my clock speed to 550 and memory speed to 880, then I guess I have a 4870 in my GT725. I've done it before, and it's stable, I just don't need it.

Yes, the M17x was actually supposed to have the GDDR5 version. I think Alienware marketed it as GDDR5 anyway.

neilnat is pretty much correct, the 4870's that are being marketed right now are nothing but overclocked 4850's. So no reason not to include the msi laptops in the mix.
