Im looking for some new games to play on my notebook, but mostly on a high end desktop. I would like one good game in each sort of genre. For a good FPS im pretty much settled on Crysis. Other ones i was looking at are Bioshock, COD modern warfare, GRAW 2. Sine i only want one of each genre, are any of these different enough from Crysis to get?
I am also looking at an oblivion like game, but with better fighting. I hated oblivion because the fighting was so lame. Ive heard people mention two worlds, but does anyone know what the fighting is like?
A cool game I think I'm getting because its unlike any game is Assassin's Creed.
How's the new Tomb Raider Anniversary? I think its more puzzle orientated so it would be pretty different than say Crysis.
What about Star Wars Outcast or Academy? Are they pretty fun? I heard the fighting in the KOTOR series is kinda like final fantasy, when you choose different moves and you dont actually get to really get into the action.
I am also getting a diablo type game, and I've picked Titan Quest.
For a sports game it's definitely NHL 08
So anyone have any suggestions for me?

I'm in the same boat. Except I think Graw is amazing, Ghost Recon has always been my personal favorite. I prefer slow pace games over fast action FPS. I was thinking of getting crysis as well. As for diablo style game, I used to play diablo all the time, so I've been looking for a new game similar to it as well. As for sports : I'd go with basketball or football.. but i don't like sports games too much
Edit: Is titan quest a lot like diablo? I'm gonna go look at it -

Bioshock isn't an FPS, if you have played SystemShock 2, its supposedly a lot like that. You can use guns, of course, but its optional. More of an RPG/FPS.
Also, KOTOR fighting is much different than final fantasy fighting. They are both a kind of turn based, but in KOTOR you are actively moving/attacking and essentially queue up attacks and force powers. In final fantasy, the game goes to a complete turn based system, everything is paused. If you WANT you can pause KOTOR to set up attacks when things get too intense.
Eh, I liked KOTOR, and I plan on getting Bioshock. A REALLY good RPG coming out will be MASS EFFECT. I think it will be on XBOX 360, as well as PC. -

Speaking of Ghost Recon....
, personally, i don't like that game. it's better on consoles than on the PC in my opinion.
I recommend you look into Assassins' Creed and Crysis. Those are the 2 games I recommend. -

Two Worlds!

Bioshock interests me a lot more than Crysis. The last games that had graphics so highly touted were Far Cry and Doom 3, and I thought both games were mediocre at best (great graphics, ho hum games). System Shock, and System Shock 2 rocked the house, so Bioshock has me very excited.
The engine the Crysis guys have built looks impressive, but I'm more meat and potatos than bells and whistles.

Thanks for the info on KOTOR, but im still not going to like the game play. I know what you mean by how its sort of turn based but not really, that is what i was trying to get at above. I think i will like Crysis more than Bioshock, the multiplayer looks soooo fun. Oh, check this link out, its my favorite picture of Crysis that shows off its graphics.

Please keep this PC games only, my 2 brothers have a ps3 and the other a 360. They can worry about their own games.
So far it sounds like two worlds for an rpg, assassins creed for funsies, crysis , and bioshock maybe. If its really unique enough to get away from fps's. -
You're only going FPS? If not I would heartily recommend Command and Conquer 3 (RTS). I'd also recommend Civilization IV, but it is eaTiNG aLL My FRee TiMe. o.0
Love that game though.
-
I like FPS, but my passion is turn based strategy. Civilization IV will probably have a "complete" version coming out, with all the expansions, and that should be a game any pc gamer should buy. How is Medieval 2 Total War? I played Rome TW and loved it. Another great RTS that got somewhat overlooked was Company of Heroes, which is as intense as any FPS (with the gore and language lol). I havent been keeping up with PC games lately, can someone give me the 411 on Crysis?
-
Titan Quest is a pretty good game. I'd advise you to pick up the expansion pack Immortal Throne as well. (On my desktop Titian Quest shuddered at times and at times froze, but once I bought and installed the expansion pack I never had either problem again - plus the expansion has may other benefits: caravans, new items, artifacts, better multi-player, and much more).
An Adventure game that is good is Runaway Dream of the Turtle (in the vein of Lucas Arts old adventure games) (although I and many others found the ending disappointing).
Assassins Creed looks and sounds like a good game, but from what I've seen and read it will not be out until November. -

Yeah rts and turn turn based does not bode well with me.
Hmm so it looks like I'll be getting Crysis, Assassins Creed, Two Worlds, possibly graw2 and possibly bioschock (unlikely though). I say unlikely because after checking out some trailers, it doesnt feel different enough from Crysis. I've pre-ordered Crysis already, and i think i will pre-order two worlds because its coming out pretty soon. -
Possibly sliced bread. It's the FPS that's been showing off all the capabilities of DX10. Comes out this fall, has very pretty ingame videos, and may or may not wind up having a great game inside the gorgeous graphics.
-
What about Hellgate: London instaid of Titan Quest? Hellgate is due in the Summer.

already bought titan quest, havent played it yet though. My friend's pc is good enough to play the game, but it doesnt have a dvd rom drive. I thought since he has 2 drives in his comp, one would be cd and the other dvd, nope. Both are cd-rw drives.

i can't speak for some of those games, but
crysis, bioshock, and assassin's creed are not released yet...
Graw 2 is a really bad pc port. depending on your specs, it may/may not be playable. Similar amount of effort put out on GRAW2 to rainbow six: vegas, for comparison (if you know how rs:v plays on the pc, you will know what i mean) -
lordofericstan Notebook Evangelist
Graw 2 isnt out yet for pc, how do you know its a bad port?
I just read Cysis is probably going to 360 and ps3. That makes me a saaaad panda
.
-
I loved that comment about Ghost Recon, Ghost_Recon23
I also recommend Crysis and Assassin's Creed as they are VERY different games obviously. But at the same time, I'd also recommend GRAW2 which is amazing on the 360 (I have been hearing it's not so good on PC) and Bioshock, like someone else said, is not really an FPS. It's more adventure and RPG like. -
Piracy...
-
doesnt piracy actually mean that the game has to be relased first?
-
Not always. Sometimes pirated copies of games come out before the release date.
-
lordofericstan Notebook Evangelist
Hey does anyone know if Two Worlds will support the pc vs xbox 360 players thingy? what is that thing called?
-
I just searched and I found it. It's pre-release so it's not retail.
-
Is Titan quest an online game just like d2? I need to see more info on it.
-
you can play single player in titan quest, but i think there is a multiplayer side to it as well......hmmm i think i might just look that up myself.
-
Yea, I think it is both, but I don't know how it works multiplayer... I should look around for other high rated MMORPG's or RPG -diablo style games.
My friend bought his new laptop and he never stops playing fate, he's a moron
. --If only that stupid game was online
-
lordofericstan Notebook Evangelist
Im not really a big fan of mmorpgs personally, im not too much of a casual player to get into them. I will not play wow because i am so so soooo opposed to making people pay a monthly fee just to PLAY the game.
-
plus the fact that you need to play 5 hours a night if you want to raid or pvp, which means a level of dedication to a game that equates to no life what so ever.
-
lordofericstan Notebook Evangelist
Hmmmm i keep looking at Two Worlds and liking it a bit more and more. I think im going to go buy it (not a pre-release) once its out.
-
That looks like more of an Oblivion style game.
-
Im in the same boat.. what about a good FPS.. I saw the trailer for COD 4 and it looked awesome.
anyone know of any games like that out now? -
lordofericstan Notebook Evangelist
bioshock looks good, it comes out in a week or 2?, but people say its more of an adventure/rpg fps. If you wait until september Crysis is coming out. That game looks sweet!
I didnt like oblivion, my brother had it. I dont know if i didnt like it because all he does in games is walk or if the fighting was boring..... thats why im waiting until its released to get it so there are a couple of reviews.
EDIT: I just watched the cod4 video and im still not as impressed with it as much as crysis and bioshock. I'm getting crysis for my fast pace fps and graw2 (if its a decent port) as my more realistic fps. -
Sneaky_Chopsticks Notebook Deity
Go for Crysis and Assassin's Creed.
I didn't like the GRAW on the PC. You should play it on XBOX 360 or PS3, it's easier in my opinion. -
lordofericstan Notebook Evangelist
i am definitely getting crysis and assassin's creed, but ive always liked the ghost recon series on the consoles. I dont have an xbox or a ps3 so id like to get it for myself so i dont have to go to my brothers dorm room every night to play a game. I will just have to wait until reviews are out on graw i guess.
-
lordofericstan Notebook Evangelist
i just ran across a couple of two worlds reviews, and both are pretty bad, scoring 4-5/10
-
What is gameplay going to be like in Assassin's creed, exactly? I saw the trailer and I saw him jumping and climbing all over the place. Will that be able to be done?
-
I think they say anything that sticks out more than 2 inches you will be able to interact with (climing on, jumping over, cuttting down, etc.). Pretty cool huh?
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
graw pc is pretty bad.
graw2 doesn't even make the "pretty bad" cut- and graw didn't set the bar very high.
(consoles are a different story) -
lordofericstan Notebook Evangelist
im still confused on how people can say that when graw 2 isnt out for pc yet... is there a demo or something for it?
-
What do you guys think about Tiberium Wars??
-
Personally I think the multiplayer on it is great, the only think I like to do on singleplayer is too really challenge myself to try and beat the brutal armies.
Which of these games to buy?
