    Which one of these graphic cards are better?

    NVIDIA GeForce 9300M 256MB or NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS, both are used in laptops. thanks! (which one is better?)

    Oh but can I ask, what does the "M" after the number stand for and how come the first one doesn't say gs or gt...im noob sorry XD

    memory should not be a factor in both cards since they are both limited by their bit interface. I think both cards are actually similar with the 9300M GS being very slightly better. All in all the 9300M GS, 8400M GS, and 3200 HD are all similar GPUs in terms of performance and I don think you will see anything major going either way. the 9300 does use less power though and will be less likely to become hot. The 8400 on the other hand is know to be a high fail rate card and can often burn out on you leaving you with a bad computer (often covered by warranty), but still not exactly a good experience.

    The M means mobile i believe and S are energy saver cards, the 9300M is always a GS, there is no GT

    there's a plain G version of the 9300M too which seems to be slightly faster than the GS

    ahh my bad yes if there is a G version then it would be faster than a GS, didnt know that actually

    and i think i meant S saves energy, not GS =)

    S just means a worse card, nothing to do with saving energy.
